Leicester City keen on 18-year-old midfield star – Manchester City, AFC Bournemouth interested
LCFC – Good Leicester City news has been hard to come by recently, but the Foxes are now said to be eyeing Finnish prodigy Matias Siltanen.
Leicester City are among the clubs keen on Djurgarden prospect Matias Siltanen, according to German broadcaster RTL.
Leicester City will be eager to finally make some serious inroads in their preparations for the new campaign now Martii Cifuentes is at the helm. The Spaniard has come in from QPR and will be tasked with leading a bright new chapter at LCFC.
The Foxes have been a club shrouded in turmoil though, with a dismal one-season return to the Premier League piling pressure on the hierarchy from their faithful supporters.
However, after some tough times, it will be hoped there is better Leicester City news on the horizon. New signings are required, and a rumoured target has emerged in fresh reports.
According to German broadcaster RTL, the Foxes are among the clubs keen on young Finnish midfielder Matias Siltanen. It is said that French side Stade Rennais, Greek outfit PAOK and two unnamed Bundesliga clubs also have eyes on the 18-year-old.
LCFC aren’t the only English side eyeing Siltanen though, with Premier League pair Manchester City and AFC Bournemouth claimed to be maintaining winter interest.
Who is Foxes target Matias Siltanen?
Siltanen is catching the eye in Sweden as an emerging midfield talent. He first impressed in his native Sweden with KuPS, impressing in his 43 games before Djurgarden swooped in to sign him in the winter.
The rumoured Leicester City target has quickly landed a key role with his new club, playing in all 16 Allsvenskan games to date. He primarily plays in defensive midfield, showing for the ball from deep and offering composure in possession.
The financial issues LCFC are enduring means shrewd deals for prospects from overseas could make for a smart recruitment method this summer. However, with some sizeable sides like Manchester City linked, it could be tricky to get a deal for Siltanen over the line if the Foxes do firm up their interest.
Leicester City news focused on potential departures
As often proves to be the case with relegated teams, eyes have mainly been on who could leave Leicester City. As such, links with youngster Siltanen might make for a pleasant change of pace.
Bilal El Khannouss is widely backed to move back to a higher level after relegation with Sunderland heavily linked with a move for the Moroccan. Wilfred Ndidi is also likely to move on amid revelations over his release clause of £9m.
LCFC need to be wary of leaving their transfer business too late, but it seems likely that incomings will only pick up once some funds are raised through sales. As such, there may well be some reluctant goodbyes at the King Power Stadium over the coming days and weeks.
