Tottenham: ‘Exceptional’ Manager is ‘Leading Candidate’ to Replace Postecoglou

Tottenham Hotspur have Marco Silva’s name on their managerial shortlist should they still decide to part with Ange Postecoglou following their Europa League win, according to Ben Jacobs.

It has been a miserable Premier League season for Tottenham. With one game remaining, Spurs have lost 21 of their 37 league games, form that would have seen them drop into a fight for survival were it not for the already-relegated bottom three.

Spurs’ torrid league form, combined with exits from both domestic cups, has seen pressure rise on Ange Postecoglou’s position as Tottenham manager. The Australian’s fate, for some time, was dependent on the Europa League final, in which Spurs faced off against Manchester United.

Despite many thinking that the Red Devils would have enough to win the trophy, it was Tottenham who emerged from the final as victors. Brennan Johnson slotted a shot beyond Andre Onana just before the half-time whistle and Spurs held on in the second half, winning their first trophy in 17 years as Postecoglou delivered on his statement about always winning something in his second season at a club.

While Postecoglou may have finally ended such a dire period of time for Spurs, it is still not clear whether he will be at Spurs for the new season. It seems that Spurs, should they and Postecoglou part ways, have one particular target in mind as a replacement.

Silva’s work has garnered the attention of many potential suitors, such as Tottenham. While there is interest from abroad in the “exceptional” Silva, Spurs may be aided by the manager’s preference to remain in Europe. Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jacobs said: on Spurs’ Shortlist

Manager has done well at Fulham

Fulham boss Marco Silva is reportedly the man that Spurs will pursue should they decide to part ways with Postecoglou. The Portuguese joined Fulham in 2021 and since earning them promotion to the Premier League in his first season, has established them firmly within the top flight, despite dealing with the likes of injuries and star players departing.
