Davis Keillor-Dunn 'gamble' admission from Barnsley FC sporting director Mladen Sormaz

Wrexham have ‘made an enquiry’ for £2.5m EFL goal machine who outscored Sam Smith in 24/25

Wrexham are looking to improve their forward line going into the 2025/26 Championship campaign.

The Red Dragons struggled for goals at the back end of 2024 and early 2025, prompting big money to be spent in the winter window.

Jay Rodriguez is now Wrexham’s highest-earning player after his transfer from recently promoted Burnley.

Meanwhile, Sam Smith joined in a £2m deal from Reading on January 31st, becoming the club’s new record signing ahead of Modou Faal.

Ryan Reynolds has praised Smith for his efforts in the second half of 2024/25, with the striker going on to score seven goals for Wrexham.

But with Championship football now on the horizon, the club are looking to add more firepower to their attack.

Wrexham enquire for Davis Keillor-Dunn

One of the latest names to be linked is Barnsley attacker, Davis Keillor-Dunn.

Wrexham let Keillor-Dunn leave the club for free in 2020, and he has since gone on to enjoy a prolific stint in Yorkshire.

2024/25 saw him score 18 League One goals, the same as Smith managed at Reading and Wrexham, and 20 across all competitions.

Now, journalist Nathan Salt has said on the Rob Ryan Red podcast that Parkinson has made an enquiry for the 27-year-old, though no official bids have been made at this time.

He said: “Davis Keillor-Dunn. My understanding there is no club has submitted an official offer for Keillor-Dunn yet to Barnsley. But a fee in the region of £2.5-£3m, that is the price point where you will get a deal over the line.

I’m told that Parkinson has made an enquiry; he knows the price, and now it’s a waiting game.

“Hull quite keen, I think Oxford as well quite keen. There’s a handful of Championship clubs that are looking at Keillor-Dunn but so far no official bids lodged to Barnsley, lodged to his representatives or anything like that.”

Other strikers Wrexham want to sign

Keillor-Dunn spent the majority of 2024/25 playing up front, but he did feature as an attacking midfielder on 12 occasions.

That could potentially see him deployed slightly behind Smith in a similar role to what we saw from Elliot Lee when he was used up top.

Away from the Barnsley man, Callum Robinson is linked to Wrexham amid Cardiff City’s relegation.

Rumours of Ryan Hardie interest have returned once more this summer after links in January.

Meanwhile, in what would be their first signing outside of the UK and Ireland for many years, Wrexham lead the race for Sunusi Ibrahim of CF Montreal.
