Danny Rohl shouts to his players during Middlesbrough FC v Sheffield Wednesday FC - Sky Bet Championship

Sheffield Wednesday journalist shares verdict on club

Danny Rohl has returned to Sheffield Wednesday after an extended break, with some players thought to have been happy at the German’s actions over the summer.

Rohl’s return has done little to help the club’s financial problems, something fans will be hoping a takeover can fix.

Journalist Joe Crann has been discussing the takeover on social media this week, and was not overly confident about it definitely happening.

He also predicted that the club will ‘remain a shambles’ until a buyout is completed.

Crann wrote: “I wouldn’t take anything at this point as good or bad news to be honest. It’s all a shambles and until a takeover is 100% complete – if it even happens – I’m expecting it to remain a shambles.”

Will a Sheffield Wednesday takeover happen

Chansiri has never proven easy to negotiate with, and unfortunately for Sheffield Wednesday fans, the potential takeover will be down to him.

Asked if a sale is more or less likely, Crann responded to one fan on X: “I wouldn’t say anything is more or less likely. It’s all pointless conjecture until it’s done.”

The 2025/26 Championship season is now just over three weeks away and the Owls still have many problems to solve behind the scenes.

Sheffield Wednesday fans are absolutely torn after seeing Danny Rohl return, something ‘feels different’

It was a huge day for Sheffield Wednesday yesterday as Danny Rohl finally returned to his duties as manager to take a training session, but fans are not ready to forgive him just yet.

Amid all the financial chaos caused by Dejphon Chansiri this summer, the saga surrounding Danny Rohl’s future has been just as tumultuous.

The Sheffield Wednesday manager had rather publicly outlined his intentions to leave the club, and was linked with a whole host of jobs including Middlesbrough and Leicester City.

It was revealed that Rohl had performed a dramatic U-turn last week and was ready to go back to S6 to pick up where he left off. But, we were told the Owls squad were not happy with Rohl’s behaviour and had made it known that they didn’t want him in charge.

Monday was a crucial day for the Sheffield Wednesday, then, as Rohl made his way back to the Middlewood Road training ground to try and put things right.

Sheffield Wednesday fans react to seeing Danny Rohl in training

Ever since the news of Rohl coming back, Wednesday fans have been divided. Some were just happy to have a manager in place, while others found it difficult to forget the way the German had acted this summer.

Now, the Sheffield Wednesday Twitter/X account has shared photos from training with Rohl featured, and it’s sparked yet another visceral reaction from the supporters.

Some fans were clearly feeling a little empty, with one replying, “Honestly no idea what to think or feel anymore,” and another saying, “This feels different. Don’t know if I like it.”

Others were more cynical, with one fan writing, “Nice of Danny to turn up,” and others adding, “Might be reading into it but those faces don’t look happy,” and “I’d be very surprised if he’s in the dugout for the first game of the season.”
