Wrexham star with 39 goals for club backed for summer transfer exit, ‘time for him to move on’
There has been a lot of talk about new arrivals at Wrexham, but exits could also happen at the Racecourse Ground in the coming months.
Phil Parkinson commented on Wrexham departures last week, admitting ‘players could go’ but he didn’t want to speak about it right after a game.
There are a number of Wrexham players out of contract in 2025 who could leave for free, including Steven Fletcher and Mark Howard.
Elsewhere, Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer have been backed to leave the Welsh outfit before the new season gets underway.
The likes of Will Boyle and Luke Bolton have hardly featured this season either and decisions will need to be made on their long-term futures.
Now, another name has been tipped to leave the club in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Elliot Lee Wrexham transfer mooted
Elliot Lee joined Wrexham from Luton Town in the summer of 2022 on a free transfer.
He’s since scored 39 goals and provided eight assists in 147 matches across all competitions for the Red Dragons.
Nine of those goals came in 2024/25, seeing Lee finish as the club’s top scorer in their latest promotion-winning season.
Wrexham pundit Liam Grice was asked about a potential move for Lee in the summer and suggested ‘maybe it is time for him to move on’.
He told Football League World: “It’s a tough one, because while there is definitely no room in football to be sentimental, especially given how quickly we’ve gone up the divisions, it feels very harsh to bin off a club legend because he’s been involved in so much good during his time at the club.
“But on the other hand, he hasn’t been starting games, he hasn’t been too effective when he’s come on, and we have better players in his position now, so maybe it is time for him to move on.
“I think he can still play at a pretty decent level and, if he’s still ambitious enough to want something out of his career, a move to a League One or League Two side where he’s going to be the star man would benefit him more, and it would allow us to get his wages off the books and invest in someone new.
“So, I think maybe, for his sake more than ours, it would be the best course of action, much as I would hate to see him leave”.
