Another One Bites The Dust as West Ham Ditch Assassin Bid
West Ham’s chase for young forward Lucas Stassin appears to have come to an abrupt end, according to reports in the French media.
The 20-year-old striker—whose impressive form couldn’t prevent Saint-Étienne from slipping into Ligue 2—had been strongly linked with a move to East London. So much so, in fact, that Stassin was believed to be in talks with the Hammers and tipped as the frontrunner among the many forwards linked to the club.
However, according to Peuple-Vert a publication focused on the French second tier—West Ham have now pulled out of the race. The report claims we’ve “abandoned” our pursuit of the Belgian attacker and are instead turning our attention elsewhere.
That, in itself, is a bit of a shame. ‘Stassin the Assassin’ looked a player of real promise—young, affordable, and fresh off a season in which he was named Young Player of the Year.
Summer Shambles Ahead ? Will The Hammers Be Fighting Relegation All Season Long ?
HamburgHammer lurks in briefly as cobwebs keep gathering at West Ham this summer. Could David Sullivan finally be about to reap what he has sown ? Are we in for the mother of all slogs next season ?
You know my stance on our esteemed owner from Theydon Bois. I am not a fan. I think his general awkwardness is easily dwarfed, pardon the pun, by his incompetence and clumsiness while running this club. So far the man has been incredibly lucky that his never-ending chain of poor decisions haven’t cost West Ham PL status so far. This season though it seems like the proverbial chickens might be coming home to roost. If our current transfer business issues are a measuring stick then next season might develop into a complete shambles. Quite a few home games may be played in front of a half-empty London Stadium. Unless our board and manager find a way to make to make the whole bigger than the sum of its parts, we might be in for a very long and tiresome season. Good thing then that I am now in an open relationship with West Ham…still, COYI!!!
Things are still eerily quiet at West Ham. Like in a peaceful chapel on the top of a mountain on the Greek island of Astypalea. Still no signings. More rumours about the potential sale of Kudus or Paqueta, but more by way of naming several clubs who are falling by the wayside in terms of being interested parties. So while we may sell our most valuable piecey of family silver anyway, there might not be quite the auction afoot, resulting in the kind of mind-boggling moon prices we would have hoped for. And it looks like Mr.Sullivan’s ploy of pleading poverty by claiming we needed to sell before we buy indeed has backfired. It doesn’t seem to have done our transfer business a lot of favours so far. Why would anyone pay good money for our players if they know our club is desperate and needs money NOW rather than in four or five weeks ?
