Fer Lopez unveiled as Wolves new signing

Steve Bull delivers stern message to Wolves fans over ‘very talented’ new signing Fer Lopez

Wolves have completed their first summer signing in the form of Fer Lopez – and Steve Bull has sent a message to supporters about the Spaniard.

Fer Lopez is hopefully the first of several new additions for Wanderers this summer, as Vitor Pereira seeks to strengthen ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Fans have been delighted with the job Pereira has done at Molineux so far.

But it is now vital for Fosun to ensure that the Portuguese is backed. Failure to do so could see Wolves regress.

But for now there is real excitement about Lopez, who has been compared to Riyad Mahrez.

Lopez, who becomes Wolves’ ninth-most expensive signing, is still relatively inexperienced though – and Steve Bull has urged fans to take that into account.

There are high hopes for Lopez at Molineux.

The 21-year-old made a real impression for Celta Vigo after breaking into their first-team late last year.

We’ve been hearing all kinds of positive verdicts about him, but ultimately, it remains to be seen how he will adapt.

For Steve Bull, there needs to be patience over Lopez – and he is adamant that he will not be a replacement for Cunha.

He said in the E&S: “The 21-year-old is young but a very talented lad and it remains to be seen how big an impact he will have on the team straight away.

“He won’t fill the boots of Matheus Cunha, but hopefully he can grow into that kind of player.

“You don’t want to pile too much pressure on him too because it’s hard to live up to what Cunha did at this football club.

“Let him settle, get his feet under the table and hopefully by the time the season starts we’ll see why Wolves spent the money on him.

Steve Bull is spot on about Fer Lopez

Wolves will be pleased Bull has said this, because the club have also been keen to downplay the suggestions Lopez is coming in as Cunha’s replacement.

For him to thrive, it’ll be important to try and take that pressure away from him from the off.

He’s signed for a lot of money so naturally expectations are going to be high.

But he’s still very young and inexperienced, so it’s only fair that people watch Lopez with that in mind.

But hopefully he can adapt to the Premier League as quickly as possible.

Wolves have done well to get him in fairly quickly, and he will surely benefit from having a full pre-season with his new teammates.

Celta Vigo fans aren’t happy with Fer Lopez’s transfer

Following the completion of the transfer, Celta Vigo expert Jose Riveiro caught up with Wolves’ official website to provide an insight into the Old Gold’s new player.

While praising Lopez and comparing him to Jude Bellingham, Riveiro revealed one negative thing about the midfielder’s move.

The expert was asked about the reaction of those at Celta Vigo following Lopez’s exit, revealing that things haven’t been ‘particularly positive’.
