Leeds United transfer target may have played his final game for current club after holding Elland Road talks
Leeds United’s move for this Premier League free agent could quickly pick up speed amid fears that he’s played his final game for his current club.
Leeds United will be on the lookout for some bargain signings this summer with Daniel Farke looking as though he could spend much of his summer transfer kitty on just a few players.
It’s been revealed that Leeds United will spend £100million on transfers this summer, but much of that could go on just a few players, with some of the names being linked likely to cost a lot.
One being Leonardo Balerdi. Farke is keen to sign the Marseille and Argentina centre-back but it’s reported that Balerdi would cost Leeds United £38million – a club record transfer fee.
So expect Leeds to be on the hunt for both free and loan signings this summer, as well as exciting permanent signings. The Premier League and also Europe’s top leagues will have some good players coming onto the free market, with one such player being Kyle Walker-Peters.

Kyle Walker-Peters suffers Southampton injury amid Leeds United talks
Leeds United have been linked with Walker-Peters throughout the year. The Southampton full-back is coming to the end of his contract at St Mary’s and is expected to leave the club following their disastrous 2024/25 season in the Premier League.
But Leeds aren’t the only ones looking at the 28-year-old. Leeds United News recently revealed that Everton and Spurs have been in contact with Walker-Peters, along with Leeds United and also West Ham, in what looks set to be a hotly-contested transfer race this summer.
And Walker-Peters may have already played his last game for the Saints. He missed their 0-0 draw against Man City last time out through illness and faces a late fitness check ahead of the next game away at Everton. Southampton finish their season at home to Arsenal on May 25th.

What’s been said about Kyle Walker-Peters at Southampton
No doubt, Walker-Peters would be a useful signing for Farke. Junior Firpo looks set to leave Leeds United, who have also suffered an early blow in their pursuit of Panathinaikos full-back Georgios Vagiannidis, who has been offered a five-year contract by Sporting CP ahead of the summer transfer window.
But Walker-Peters potentially missing the remainder of the season could free him up for talks with the likes of Leeds United. Saints interim boss hasn’t given much away on Walker-Peters’ illness, but he did reveal that he’s not trained all that much in the past week.
He told Daily Echo: “Kyle had the illness last week, and he hasn’t trained much this week, so there’ll be a decision to be made.”
There’s a week between the games against Everton and Arsenal and if Walker-Peters is fit to play, expect him to do so, as it’d surely be his final game for the club.
