Aaron Ramsdale lined up to replace Argentina's World Cup winning hero

Aaron Ramsdale lined up to replace Argentina’s World Cup winning hero

Transfer Insider highlights Aston Villa’s interest in Aaron Ramsdale to replace star goalkeeper Emi Martinez.

Just a week ago, Aaron Ramsdale was nominated for Premier League Fan Team of the Season. Being the only Southampton player to make the cut, Ramsdale’s presence eventually spoke for his remarkable performances in the Saints’ disastrous campaign.

Now, Ramsdale may have slim chances to make it to the ultimate Team of the Season lineup, but the keeper’s nomination has revived his reputation. Deservedly, Aaron Ramsdale is back again in the discussion of some of the best PL keepers.

This is because, amidst his confirmed departure rumours, Ramsdale has made it to the shortlist for a role that arguably has the biggest shoes to fill in the keeping department in Premier League football.

It’s Aaron Ramsdale in contention to succeed Aston Villa’s superstar keeper Emiliano Martinez.

Aston Villa eye Ramsdale as Emi Martinez’ successor

Recently, as quoted by Football Insider, ex-Villa scout Mick Brown confirmed the interest in Ramsdale to replace Emi Martinez, saying: “They’ve got a list of options to choose from, and I believe Aaron Ramsdale is on there. Whether Ramsdale is that man will be up to them to decide, but they’ve certainly been looking.”

Honestly, for Ramsdale playing at a bottom club Southampton, and being hardly regular in International football, his rumours of succeeding a WC Golden Glove winner feel abstract, yet Villa’s interest isn’t random.

That’s because, going through a tough phase this season, it was Ramsdale’s Aston Villa display that changed everything.

In case you remember, despite Southampton losing 0-3, Ramsdale had the Saints in contention for a draw almost single-handedly till 70 minutes. Had it not been for a Tyler Dibling error, the keeper might have held Villa himself, given he was unstoppable that day having made 2 penalty saves.

In fact, this one-man show has been a standout performance that has changed the course of Ramsdale’s departure links for the better, too.

Given the release clause in the keeper’s contract, Southampton are bound to part ways with him for £25m. Yet, all Saints will hope for Ramsdale’s Aston Villa move which could be a big upheaval step in his career.

Everton now told how much Southampton want for Tyler Dibling this summer

Everton are in the market for a winger this summer transfer window.

Manchester City’s Jack Grealish has been mooted with a move to Everton, although, his lofty wages may be a stumbling block.

The Toffees have also been considering a move for Richarlison, who is expected to leave Tottenham Hotspur.

Richarlison has been testing Everton fans on social media, hinting at a possible return, but David Moyes recently downplayed those rumours.

Moyes and his scouts have kept a close eye on Southampton’s Tyler Dibling, too, with chiefs attending one of his England under-21s games in March.

Now they have just been informed how much Saints are demanding to sanction Dibling’s sale.

The Friedkin Group are looking to make statement signings at Everton this summer, having already shown their ambition at Roma over the last 48 hours.

The American owners are about to make Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini the new manager in Italy’s capital, which has sent shockwaves around the nation.

Now, they’re looking to transform fortunes on Merseyside and have been looking into a deal for Southampton wonderkid Tyler Dibling.

According to Sky Sports News (May 28), Everton have been told that it’d take a bid of around £55m to get Dibling out of the Championship outfit.

That’s some way off the £100m Southampton were demanding a couple of months ago, so it opens up the possibility of a potential deal for the Friedkins.

Russell Martin says Dibling will be an England international soon

If Everton were to land Dibling’s signature, it’d be a real coup as his former manager Russell Martin reckons he’ll be an England international soon.

“I don’t want to make things more difficult for him, but he’s the most talented player I’ve ever seen,” Martin said on the Rest Is Football podcast.

Lineker replied: “You’ve ever seen or you’ve worked with? Do you work with?

“Yeah, so seen live, seen on the training pitch. So I worked with James Madison at that age at Norwich. He was outstanding.

“And Tyler has every capability to go and play for England and at a top level for a very long time, because he’s powerful, he’s really quick. Both feet can shoot, no bang bang. I worked with Harry Kane at 21 when he came to Norwich on loan as well.

“Physically, the stuff I’ve seen him do at 18 in the Premier League, people just bouncing off him and being put on the floor when he dribbles with a ball. He has something I’ve not seen in a British player for a long time.”
