Dominic Solanke’s injury is ‘worse than feared’, with the Tottenham striker facing a considerable spell on the sidelines after suffering an ankle issue, journalist Jake Sanders has revealed.
The 27-year-old forward was left out of Spurs’ squad for their 1-0 home defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday, with Manor Solomon named on the bench in Solanke’s absence.
While manager Thomas Frank claimed the England international only encountered a ‘minor issue with his ankle’, Solanke’s setback could prove to be worse than initially thought as he may be forced to undergo surgery.
Solanke missed the majority of pre-season with an ankle injury before returning to the bench against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup loss.
He has made three cameos off the bench for Spurs since, with Richarlison’s stunning form limiting his opportunities as the Brazilian has scored twice and assisted once in three Premier League appearances.

According to Sanders, Solanke is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering another ankle injury and could be forced to undergo surgery to fix the recurring issue:
Tottenham were active on transfer deadline day in their efforts to compensate for Solanke’s loss, welcoming striker Randal Kolo Muani on a season-long loan deal.
The France international had been linked with Premier League clubs for several months, with interest from Spurs, Manchester United, Chelsea as well as Serie A side Juventus.
Kolo Muani spent the second half of last season on loan at the Italian side, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists in 22 appearances.
He joined PSG in the summer of 2023 from Eintracht Frankfurt and has won two Ligue 1 titles, as well as playing a part in the club’s Champions League-winning campaign last season.
The 26-year-old’s became Tottenham’s fourth and final senior signing of the summer, following Mohammed Kudus, Joao Palhinha and Xavi Simons.
Spurs rebuilt their attacking options significantly amid the departure of former captain Son Heung-min and injuries to Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison.
While Kulusevski is still recovering from a knee injury sustained in May, Maddison suffered a long-term ACL setback in pre-season which could keep him out for the entire 2025/26 campaign.
