Jack Burroughs: Why I chose to sign for Northampton after leaving Coventry City

FOOTBALL – Former Coventry City defender Jack Burroughs to join Northampton Town

FORMER Coventry City defender Jack Burroughs will join Northampton Town at the end of his contract with the Sky Blues.

Coventry confirmed Burroughs would leave the club after revealing their retained and released list following the conclusion of the 2024/25 campaign.

The 24-year-old has already secured a move to League One Northampton where he has signed a two-year deal.

Burroughs made 21 appearances for the Sky Blues in all competitions after coming through the club’s youth academy.

He enjoyed five separate loan spells away from Coventry and spent the first half of the 2024/25 season with Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock.

Burroughs has also represented Scotland eight times at under-21 level.

Coventry City have appointed an employee of Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain as chief business officer, in a newly-created role.

Nicola Ibbetson, the French club’s global partnerships director, will oversee all commercial, retail, digital and marketing activities, with a focus on accelerating the Sky Blues’ growth and “driving revenue”.

Ms Ibbetson, who starts the job next month, has been chief commercial officer at Aston Villa and also worked at the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea.

The Sky Blues have also announced the departure of chief operating officer John Taylor, who joined them in February last year.

They said he had made a “valuable contribution to the success and improvements” at the club, thanked him for his hard work and wished him “the best of luck for the future”.

Ms Ibbetson’s activities have included being an independent member of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games legacy and benefits committee.
