Fabrizio Romano’s Chelsea announcement will decrease Southampton fans morale
Liam Delap’s meagre transfer fee will definitely cast transfer doubts among Southampton fans who have been dreaming about the club securing an unimaginable transfer fortune only by Tyler Dibling’s sale.
There are two days to go for Southampton to begin their actual transfer window plan, selling players and cashing out some irresistible transfer fees. And keeping aside Dibling’s poor five-a-side choices, the 19-year-old wide attacker still holds the keys to turn this exit spree into a lucrative paycheck festival at St. Mary’s.
But, as always, the transfer window runs on a buying and selling momentum instead of mere speculated price tags. And as Southampton fans, we must accept this, because there is indeed some bitter news for the Saints.
Recently, Fabrizio Romano gave an eye-catching update on Chelsea’s pursuit of Liam Delap. In his own words, Romano said: “Liam Delap to Chelsea, here we go! Agreement in place as £30m release clause will be triggered.”
Delap’s transfer raises Dibling fears among Southampton fans
Now, notice the transfer figure, that’s only £30m. Honestly, I am not saying that Chelsea struck a bargain but isn’t the fee too low for an in-form English striker who bagged 12 times in his full-fledged Premier League debut campaign.
Sadly, it is, and it’s also when Delap is a proven U21 player for the Young Lions and may even earn his first Three Lions cap in a year or two.
Doesn’t that dampen Southampton’s transfer morale for Tyler Dibling? As compared to Delap, Dibling hasn’t finished the season in good form and his English status is barely of a U19 squad member.
So, it might take a big transfer opportunity like Everton’s ambitious approach to actually get closer to fetching a £50m compensation.
Remember, David Prutton’s Archie Gray example? Though the former Southampton star sounded more criticising at that time, his advice to keep a fair transfer expectation from Dibling is becoming true now.
Saints have gone back to the Championship after experiencing a dire season in the Premier League, finishing at the bottom of the league table.
Will Still will be Southampton’s new manager in the Championship and they are already plotting their transfer business for the upcoming campaign.
Saints have already announced the signing of young defender Joshua Quarshie from German outfit Hoffenheim.
Tadic, 36, who played for Saints from 2014 until 2018, is expected to be looking for a new club this summer as he seeks to move on from a spell at Fenerbahce.
