‘Impressive’: Eight young talents new West Brom boss Ryan Mason could call on at former club Tottenham

Ryan Mason will already working through his squad to find the gaps he and Albion need to plug for next season.

The new Albion boss signed a three-year deal on Monday – and work will now go in to preparing Albion for next season.

Targets will have already been identified by the club and they will be working to bring players in.

However, the pull of Mason, his work at Tottenham and the influence he has had during his coaching career in the Spurs academy could aid Albion in the transfer window.

Albion benefitted from signing Will Lankshear on loan in January, and have already been linked with another young Spurs star.

But with Mason at the helm, and having left Tottenham on good terms, could Spurs potentially be looking to Albion to give some of their players first team experience?

How Harry Kane affected West Brom’s move for Ryan Mason

Harry Kane was crucial in convincing his friend Ryan Mason to take the West Brom job.

The Baggies announced on Monday night that their lengthy search for Tony Mowbray’s successor was over, with Mason agreeing a three-year contract to be the main man at The Hawthorns.

That was a bold move by Albion, as the 33-year-old has no senior managerial experience, aside from two short spells as a caretaker at Spurs.

However, the former player was highly-rated as a coach by the Premier League outfit, having worked under a host of managers in North London.

That includes being part of the backroom team under Ange Postecoglou, who delivered Spurs’ first trophy in 18 years when they beat Man United 1-0 in the Europa League final in May

Yet, with Mason’s contract at Spurs expiring, it was unclear about what the future held for him, but he has decided to take a leap into management by joining Albion.

And, Football Insider has revealed that Kane played a big part in convincing his former teammate to take that step.

They explain that Mason and the Bayern Munich striker are close friends, to the extent that they have recently been on holiday together, and Kane was adamant that the West Brom opportunity was too good for his mate to turn down.
