Potential Sheffield Wednesday manager may have just dropped a big hint about his future
Sheffield Wednesday could be another Championship club on the lookout for a new manager soon, as Danny Rohl is being targeted by numerous clubs.
Rohl has done a remarkable job since becoming Sheffield Wednesday’s manager in October 2023 by clinching survival last season and then a mid-table finish this term.
Under Dejphon Chansiri’s tough financial constraints, the German tactician has worked wonders, and he now deserves to manage at a higher level.
We revealed in March that Southampton were interested in Rohl, who has a £5 million release clause, while Leicester City liked the look of the Sheffield Wednesday boss.
More recently, Rohl has been touted with a Premier League move, seeing the likes of Crystal Palace and Fulham register an interest in the 36-year-old.

Henrik Pedersen could become Sheffield Wednesday’s new manager
There is an acceptance from supporters that the Owls will be scouring the market for a new manager soon, with several solid options available.
Stockport County manager Dave Challinor could be a shout, having done a tremendous job with the League One side, while some less favourable choices include Gary O’Neil and Rob Edwards.
However, some supporters want Rohl’s assistant Henrik Pedersen to become Wednesday’s manager, in the hope he continues the foundations laid down by the German.
Pedersen joined the club as Rohl’s assistant in October 2023, and he’s been in S6 ever since, but there have been fears that he could follow him out of the door.
While that is a possibility, it was revealed on X that the 47-year-old attended the Worksop Town vs Hallam FC fixture on Thursday night, which could be a big hint on where his future lies.
Surely if he knew he was leaving, he would have packed his bags and departed, though the fact he hasn’t could suggest he stays and becomes the new Wednesday manager.
Pedersen already knows Rohl’s style of football
It will be a sad day for fans when Rohl eventually departs the football club, as there is a feeling that they won’t get better than him under the circumstances.
This is the reason why many want Pedersen to become the new Owls boss in the future, with Rohl previously stating how his assistant knows his style of football.

Speaking in February 2024 via the Yorkshire Post, the former Bayern Munich coach said: “Sascha (Lense) knows me personally on and off the pitch, and Henrik (Pedersen) knows my style of football.
“This is teamwork. I know that the manager is at the front, but I feel I have a fantastic team around me and this is so helpful.”
If Wednesday appoint Pedersen to replace Rohl, the players would already be familiar with the style and they would know where they stand, making it all the more plausible to offer him the role.
Danny Rohl shares devastating hint regarding his Sheffield Wednesday future, his ‘top choice’ is now clear
Sheffield Wednesday may as well start looking for a new manager now, as Danny Rohl has made it pretty clear he is heading for the exit this summer.
For a couple of months now, it has been fairly obvious that Danny Rohl at least has ideas about leaving Sheffield Wednesday for pastures new.
The young German coach has worked wonders at Hillsborough, to be fair. He steered the Owls to a miraculous escape from relegation last season, before taking them to 12th place this season.
However, with turbulence behind the scenes thanks to owner Dejphon Chansiri and a lack of resources available, Rohl has long been expected to leave the club this summer, and that now appears certain.

What Danny Rohl said about his future
Speaking to RB Live, a publication dedicated to Red Bull Leipzig, Rohl was very forthcoming discussing how he feels about the future, and the Sheffield Wednesday manager spoke of his excitement for what may happen this summer.
When asked about his ambitions, he said: “I always want to work with the best players and compete with the best coaches. The Bundesliga is, of course, a top choice. After all, I grew up with the Bundesliga. But the Premier League is also a dream. I’m currently very excited to see what happens this summer.”
It should come as no surprise that Rohl has aspirations to work elsewhere, and at a higher level. Indeed, Rohl’s body language has been telling in the latter stages of the season, and this is not the first time he has hinted at his departure.
Rohl has outlined his need for a clear strategy, something he doesn’t have at Sheffield Wednesday. More recently, he suggested he has made his ‘decision’ already and that the club are aware.
After the final game of the season, Rohl promised he ‘won’t forget’ Sheffield Wednesday, which surely implies he is on his way imminently.

What do Sheffield Wednesday do if Danny Rohl does leave?
Just this week, it emerged that Premier League clubs were eyeing up Rohl, with Crystal Palace and Fulham both considering him in case they need a new manager this summer.
Truth be told, it would be a bit of a nightmare for Sheffield Wednesday if Rohl does go. He has put brilliant building blocks in place and there was a lot of excitement around the direction the club was heading with the 36-year-old at the helm.
Still, there are plenty of promising options for managers who could replace Danny Rohl at Sheffield Wednesday, but it’s a decision that Chansiri will have to get absolutely spot on or face the wrath of the Owls faithful.
Southampton and Sheffield Wednesday fans in total agreement over ‘massive talent’ Shea Charles ahead of next season
With the season over, Shea Charles will be heading back to Southampton for the summer, and Sheffield Wednesday fans know he’s destined for great things with the Saints.
Sheffield Wednesday had an odd season, with a decent run of form taking them to within touching distance of being a Championship play-off contender, before slipping away and ending up slap-bang in the middle of the table.
With Danny Rohl’s future very much in doubt, and potential for Dejphon Chansiri to sell the club, Owls fans could be set for a stranger summer, too.
Sadly, with Southampton suffering relegation from the Premier League, we know that Shea Charles’ time at Sheffield Wednesday will come to an end and he will join up with his parent club after a successful loan spell.

Obviously, losing a player as talented and influential as Charles is not good news for Sheffield Wednesday, but their fans are handling the bittersweet departure with grace and gratitude.
