Leeds United to miss out on West Brom star – Player prefers a move abroad
Now that Leeds United have secured promotion, they can focus all their attention on improving the squad ahead of their return to the Premier League. So far, it looks like the club are mixing up their recruitment targets, with different players linked in recent days.
Leeds have targeted a mix of players – from Premier League stars, to players in the Championship. The club have even been linked with one player from a Romanian side. Daniel Farke and his team are focused on spreading far and wide to find value in the transfer market. Leeds fans will hope this coming window is as good as their last transfer window when they were promoted.
Raphinha, Robin Koch and Rodrigo Moreno arrived in the summer of 2020 as they helped newly promoted Leeds finish in the top half.

Over the past few weeks, Leeds have had their eye on some potential free transfers this summer. The Whites were linked with Norwich City keeper Angus Gunn, who will be available on a free this summer.
West Brom star Grady Diangana has also made the headlines in recent weeks. The attacking midfielder has been named as a target for Leeds, but the latest reports suggest otherwise. Africa Foot are reporting that Diangana has his sights set on a move outside England when the summer comes around. His preferred destination looks to be Freiburg accordin to the report.
Grady Diangana has had 22 direct goal involvements in the last two seasons – this year, he has four goals and three assists in 14 starts in the Championship.
Leeds need to move on from Diangana
Sometimes as a newly promoted club, you cannot compete with clubs from Europe’s top five leagues. Freiburg will have the upper hand, as they can afford to offer players more and even the prospect of playing in the Conference League or Europa League.
This year, Diangana was a rotation player with just 14 starts all campaign. Four goals and three assists is not really something to write home about, especially when Leeds can call on the likes of Wilfried Gnonto from their bench.
Next West Brom manager: intriguing new front-runner could sweep Spurs and ex-Wolves men aside
Reports suggest that West Bromwich Albion’s hunt for a new manager has taken a significant step forward – and that the Baggies have already held talks with the head coach of a rival Championship club.
West Brom have been without a manager since Tony Mowbray’s frustrating second spell at the Hawthorns was brought to a premature end on Easter Monday following a 3-1 defeat to relegation-threatened Derby County.
The Baggies’ board seem determined to address the managerial vacancy as quickly as possible, and may have already identified their target to take over this summer, with several news reports suggesting that the club have already been in contact with current QPR manager Martà Cifuentes.
West Brom target Martà Cifuentes as next manager
42-year-old manager Cifuentes has been in charge of QPR since October 2023 and successfully steered the club away from Championship relegation in his first season at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium.
This year, he has led QPR to a lower mid-table finish, with the club sat 15th prior to the final game of the season, but a story from The Sun suggests that he is ready to leave the club due to concerns over the way the club’s directors are handling recruitment and the running of the club.
Should West Brom wish to make a formal approach for Cifuentes, however, they would need QPR’s permission and would be compelled to pay compensation for the Spaniard should he be appointed to succeed Mowbray.
