‘Couldn’t stop it’ – Unfortunate reason why Sheffield Wednesday man was forced off
The 19-year-old Owl has had a difficult time on loan with the Cumbrians, with Mark Hughes opting not to use him at all on many occasions since he took over as manager, often leaving him out of the squad completely.
But patience and hard work has paid off for the teenager, and in recent games he’s worked his way back into the mix, getting increasing time on the field as a substitute in the games against MK Dons and Doncaster Rovers. His efforts were then rewarded with a starting berth away at Chesterfield this week, but things certainly didn’t go as hoped for the young Wednesday academy graduate.
He’ll be alright for the weekend
“With Sean he had a really bad nosebleed and we couldn’t stop it,” he told the club’s YouTube channel, before going on to say, “It was an opportunity for him, he was starting the game, and he’s looked really good in training. But he didn’t really get started in the game after getting the bang on the nose, and we couldn’t stop it. He’ll be alright for the weekend, though, and he’ll get more opportunities.”
Things went from bad to worse for Carlisle as the game went on, too. Fusire’s replacement, Embleton, was shown a straight red only 10 minutes after taking to the field, and their captain, Sam Lavelle, was forced out with an injury as the first half came to a close. They went on to lose 2-1, a result that keeps them rooted to the bottom of the League Two table.
Next up for Hughes’ side is a visit from Newport County on Saturday afternoon, and Fusire will be hoping that he can retain his place in the XI at Brunton Park – and hopefully stay on the field a bit longer this time around.
3 out-of-contract starlets Sheffield Wednesday should target in the summer transfer window
Sheffield Wednesday are regularly on the lookout for new prospects to bring into their ranks as future first-team players.
Sheffield Wednesday are hoping their Danny Rohl project will continue in the summer though there are constant questions over his future at SWFC.
Regardless from the managerial position though, the Owls are in for a big summer. The boss will need backing if they’re to bridge the gap from mid-table to the play-offs but the latest Dejphon Chansiri shortcoming doesn’t make for great reading.
Eyes will be on potential targets nonetheless, and there are shrewd deals to be done for promising youngsters approaching the end of their contracts at their respective clubs.
With that said, we put forward three out of contract prospects who Sheffield Wednesday should have eyes on this summer…
Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand – Arsenal
Sheffield Wednesday may well need another central midfielder this summer with Barry Bannan and Stuart Armstrong aged 35 and 33 respectively while loan star Shea Charles prepares to return to Southampton.
One situation that could pique interests is that of Arsenal man Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand.
After loans with Hull City and Den Bosch, the 21-year-old has gone back to the Premier League 2 this season and 11 goal contributions in 13 games shows he should be playing senior football. SWFC should offer him that chance as a bright talent for the future.
Harvey Davies – Liverpool
A goalkeeper will be needed this summer too. Pierce Charles could be in line for a step up to the number one role as Sheffield Wednesday loan man James Beadle sees his latest temporary stay end.
Charles’ ascension may see the Owls eye another promising young ‘keeper and if they do, Harvey Davies could be an option to consider.
An exit from Liverpool sees likely and with senior experience to his name from a solid loan at Crewe Alexandra, the youngster could be a solid backup for Charles and a potential future competitor for the starting berth.
Emre Tezgel – Stoke City
Last but not least is a slightly different suggestion, as Emre Tezgel has already played a decent amount of first-team football with Stoke City.
However, his stunning form at youth level is not earning him the senior opportunities he deserves. Sheffield Wednesday could do with a new talisman and on a free transfer, Tezgel could be a low cost option with a potentially sizeable resale value in the future.
The 19-year-old is out of contract and scored 17 goals in five U21s outings as of March 18th.
