City mayor visits Colchester Zoo for conservation talk

The Mayor of Colchester has visited the Colchester Zoological Society (CZS).

Colchester Mayor, Lesley Scott-Boutell, was invited by CZS to meet the management team.

The purpose of the visit was to learn more about the zoo’s recent transition to a charity and its global conservation efforts.

As of February 1, the zoo officially gained charitable status under the name Colchester Zoological Society.

This transition aims to raise awareness about the importance of conservation and how a day at the zoo contributes to worldwide projects.

During her visit, the Mayor also toured the zoo’s newly refurbished ‘Capuchin Climb’ habitat, which houses the critically endangered buff-headed capuchin species.
