Wrexham lead the charge to land in-demand Rangers ace amid exit decision
Scottish Premiership giants Rangers are preparing themselves for a new era of ownership under 49ers Enterprises and one of the names that’s expected to be first out of the door is attacking midfielder Tom Lawrence after a frustrating campaign.
The 23-time Wales international, who recently returned to the international set-up under Craig Bellamy, is out of contract in the summer and is unlikely to be handed an extension, according to Football Insider.
Wrexham lead race to sign Tom Lawrence
The Daily Record understands that League One automatic promotion hopefuls Wrexham are the leading candidates to sign Tom Lawrence. Phil Parkinson’s side are second in the table and remain on course for a third consecutive promotion after an exceptional rise up the Football Pyramid under Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
If they are promoted they will be on the hunt for high-profile attacking options to help stablise the team in the second-tier and could turn to Lawrence, who has scored 50 goals and contributed 40 assists in the division across spells with sides such as Derby County, Ipswich Town and Blackburn Rovers.
What does the future hold for Tom Lawrence
Tom Lawrence hasn’t started for Rangers since mid-February and it’s highly unlikely he’ll be fighting for a spot at Ibrox next term with his contract set to expire this summer. He’s expected to join Romanian playmaker Ianis Hagi and Leon Balogun in leaving on a free in June to raise funds for a potential new manager.
Paul Mullin’s time at Wrexham is over as journalist shares grim prediction, fans will be lost for words
Paul Mullin was the man who fired Wrexham to promotion from the National League and League Two. Now he’s the player who sits in the stands as his teammates struggle to find the back of the net.
Paul Mullin will go down in Wrexham folklore no matter how his time at the club comes to an end, and many fans think the striker’s time at Wrexham will come to an end this summer after what’s been a very bizarre season for the 30-year-old.
So far in 2024/25, Mullin has scored just three in 26 League One outings. But Phil Parkinson hasn’t given him any first-team minutes in 14 league games now, with Parkinson saying Mullin is simply down the pecking order.
It comes after Wrexham paid £2million to sign Sam Smith during the January transfer window. The Dragons also signed Jay Rodriguez but the veteran striker has failed to impress.
Wrexham fans want Rodriguez dropped against Bristol Rovers on Friday and Mullin to be reinstated to the team with four games to go. But Nathan Salt doesn’t think that will be the case.

Paul Mullin may have played his last game for Wrexham, says Nathan Salt
Speaking on the RobRyanRed podcast, journalist Salt gave his verdict on Mullin and what the future might hold for him at the Racecourse, where his contract runs until the end of the 2026/27 season. But Salt has predicted a rather grim ending for Mullin who has an incredible 105 goals in 165 games for the Dragons.
Salt said: “Paul Mullin was in the away end at Wigan. I don’t suspect he’ll kick a ball for us again this season or or moving forward. I think it might be the the end unfortunately.”
Wrexham drew 0-0 with Wigan Athletic last time out. Rodriguez was criticised by fans for his lacklustre performance but it doesn’t look as though Parkinson will make any drastic changes in the final four games of the season. Bringing Mullin back after so long out of the picture would be a drastic change.
