Potential new Sheffield Wednesday owner named with billionaire ‘closely checking’ on Dejphon Chansiri stance
Things may be a bit sour at Sheffield Wednesday at the moment, but there is potentially some hope on the horizon in the form of a prospective buyer for the club.
For the last ten years, Sheffield Wednesday has been under the ownership of Dejphon Chansiri, and it’s been a rollercoaster ride for the club.
From missing out on promotion to the Premier League via play-off heartbreak in back-to-back seasons, to relegation and financial difficulties, and more recently the success of promotion back to the Championship.
After the great escape of surviving last season, the 2024/25 campaign has been a mixed bag for the Owls, with a brief dalliance with the play-off race turning into midtable mediocrity now.
With Danny Rohl potentially departing in the summer, and fans desperate for Chansiri to leave, too, there are a fair few issues to resolve in S6 at the moment.

Anas Sefrioui has Sheffield Wednesday ‘in his sights’
As per Alan Nixon on Patreon, the Owls could have a little spot of positivity to celebrate, as a new interested party emerges looking to take the club off Chansiri’s hands.
Wednesday were subject of interest from America not long ago, but now, it is thought Moroccan billionaire Anas Sefrioui is on the hunt for a project in England, and he has Sheffield Wednesday “in his sights.”
The property developer has already put a “top legal firm” to work in scouting out opportunities for investment, and is believed to be “closely checking” on the situation at Hillsborough.
Chansiri has recently changed his tune and revealed he would sell the Owls if the price is right. However, it is thought Sefrioui also has a price in mind, and would want to have complete “control” over the club moving forward.
There is a belief that Sefrioui could beat all other suitors and wrap up a deal for Wednesday in the near future.

Dejphon Chansiri has to go before Sheffield Wednesday can succeed
Chansiri has been told in no uncertain terms that he must sell up at Sheffield Wednesday after the way he’s run the club.
However, we’re told it would take a ‘miracle’ for Chansiri to vacate, with the businessman proving to be rather stubborn in his desire to stick around.
Either way, it looks likely Rohl will move on in the summer, leaving the Owls with another rebuild in terms of both coaching staff and the playing squad, too.
Whoever takes over will have a mammoth task on their hands if Chansiri is still there. However, with new owners, we could yet see Sheffield Wednesday return to the top flight for the first time since the turn of the millennium, and it’s where a club of this stature truly belongs, if we’re honest.
