‘We talk’ – Brighton contract decision made after Sheffield Wednesday return and Man United link
Brighton have some key decisions to make in their goalkeeping department as Tom McGill signed a new two-year contract this week.
McGill, 25, has yet to make a first team appearance for the Seagulls but impressed during his loan at MK Dons earlier this season.
He was recalled to the Albion set-up in January following an injury to No 2 stopper Jason Steele and was on the bench for the FA Cup matches against Newcastle and Nottingham Forest.
Unlucky Saints star could emerge biggest winner from Danny Rohl’s new move links
Joe Aribo can make the perfect comeback with a Rangers return as Danny Rohl emerges new candidate to lead the Scottish side.
A wise man once proclaimed, “Once is a mistake, twice is a habit in the making, but when repeated endlessly, it’s no longer error, it’s intent.” And that’s what reflects from Southampton boss Simon Rusk’s squad planning now.
In case you are baffled, we talk of midfielder Joe Aribo’s exclusion from the Saints’ squad, which is too big a blunder to ignore.
As you might know, Aribo has missed starting in all four previous games under Rusk, and that hasn’t changed against Man City today. And that’s enough to convey, the Nigerian isn’t a priority in Rusk’s plans.
Well, imagine being one of the very few Champions League quality players at the club, and just restricted to the bench for younger names, that too repetitively. Now, no matter how much of a staunch Saints supporter one might be, Aribo’s situation must make every fan worried.
But no more as the 28-year-old midfielder can plot a perfect comeback script, if the ongoing rumours are to be assumed true.
This is because Saints target Danny Rohl is now in transfer rumours with Aribo’s former club, Rangers.
Aribo to benefit from Rohl’s recent Rangers’ transfer links
As per TeamTalk, the Scottish side is the latest joinee in Rohl’s heated transfer race this summer. Importantly, for Rohl, Rangers’ Champions League contention can lure the manager for an exciting project soon.
Well, if this goes through, it’s natural for Rohl to consider Joe Aribo as an immediate signing then. After all, having almost helped them to their first European trophy in recent history, with his final goal in the Europa League 2021/22, few deserve it more than Aribo to be called back.
Now, just imagine the scenes, if after recently rejecting Southampton, Rohl picks up the Rangers job and works wonders with Aribo’s signing. Surely, a catastrophic one for the St. Mary’s faithful to even imagine.
But, maybe, Southampton deserve it for their recent treatment of superstar Joe Aribo.
49ers Want to Hire ‘One of Football’s Brightest Young Coaches’ as Rangers Boss
Rangers are considering appointing Sheffield Wednesday’s Danny Rohl as their new manager, according to TEAMtalk.
It has been a season to forget for the blue half of Glasgow. Rangers started the season under the management of Philippe Clement but after much inconsistency, the Belgian was dismissed in 2025. He had guided Rangers to the final of the Scottish League Cup, which Rangers lost to arch-rivals Celtic.
More damning, though, was Rangers’ shock fifth-round exit from the Scottish Cup to Queen’s Park. Although the club had been fairly consistent in Europe, they had fallen well adrift of Celtic in the league at the time of Clement’s dismissal. In his place, Rangers appointed former midfielder Barry Ferguson on an interim basis until the season’s end.
Rangers have, by now, turned all of their attention to the upcoming season. Already owners of newly-promoted Leeds United in England, 49ers Enterprises are progressing well in their efforts to take the club over and already have a name in mind for who their first Rangers manager could be.
Rangers Like Rohl
German could depart his current post
According to TEAMtalk, Danny Rohl is a name being considered by Rangers to be their new manager. Rohl himself has only been in senior management for two years, with his current role at Sheffield Wednesday being a first for the 36-year-old.
In his first campaign at Hillsborough, Rohl somehow guided Wednesday to safety in the Championship. The club looked set for the drop for most of the season, only for Rohl to lift them out of the bottom three on the final day of the season. In his second term in charge, the German saw Wednesday finish comfortably within the confines of mid-table.

An adaptable manager, Rohl’s future is up for debate. With limited resources at Wednesday and a tense relationship with owner Dejphon Chansiri, the German may find himself on the move this summer. In Rangers, Rohl would be moving to a massive club that, under the new ownership, would give him the resources he desired to completely build a team in his own image.
The German is an ambitious manager, who TEAMtalk described as “one of football’s brightest young coaches.” Rangers would offer Rohl the chance to manage a club that consistently play European football and in return, the Bears would be securing the services of a talented manager who may, finally, return them to a position of competing for the league title.
