Phil Parkinson looks dejected following Harrogate Town v Wrexham AFC in the Emirates FA Cup First Round clash.

After Paul Mullin, Phil Parkinson could sanction loan for second Wrexham player this summer

Wrexham have let Paul Mullin leave the club this summer and a second player could now depart on loan.

Paul Mullin was dropped by Phil Parkinson in the second half of 2024/25, not featuring in League One after January 28.

Mullin wanted to play in the Championship with Wrexham, but that will not be happening, at least for the next six months.

It comes after Mullin joined Wigan Athletic on a season-long loan deal last month, with the Welsh side paying 50 percent of his wages.

Wrexham could recall the striker in January if they wish, while another player could be sent out on loan by Phil Parkinson this summer.

Modou Faal’s injury means a loan move for him, at least right now, is looking unlikely despite his very limited game time in 2024/25.

But another player could potentially depart the Racecourse Ground on a temporary basis.

Wrexham signed Danny Ward on a free transfer on July 1 after his contract with Leicester City expired.

It means Arthur Okonkwo, Ward, and Callum Burton are now likely to be Parkinson’s three main goalkeepers going into 2025/26.

As a result, it’s not too surprising to see Leader Live suggesting that a loan move for shot-stopper Luke McNicholas is possible in order for him to gain more experience.

He then completed a permanent transfer last year for somewhere in the region of £90,000.

However, his game time has been pretty limited, and he was loaned to Rochdale in the first part of last season.

In total, McNicholas has made three appearances for Wrexham, in which he’s conceded four goals and kept one clean sheet.

Wrexham have signed Danny Ward ahead of their 2025/26 Championship campaign. He brings a wealth of experience to the team, though fans have given somewhat mixed verdicts on the former Liverpool man’s arrival.

Danny Ward becomes the second signing of the summer for Wrexham, joining Ryan Hardie in making the move to the Racecourse.

And it’s a return to his former club, and to his hometown club too, after Ward previously left Wrexham for Liverpool in a £100,000 deal back in 2013.

He’s played mostly as a back-up goalkeeper since. Now 32, Ward has 44 caps for Wales but only ever made three Premier League appearances for Liverpool, whilst making 52 total appearances in seven years with Leicester City.

On Tuesday, Wrexham announced the signing of Ward on a two-year deal, but many Wrexham fans seemed confused by the signing, and some were even unimpressed with Ward who some fans say hasn’t showed all that much in recent seasons.
