West Ham Want to Sign ‘Insane’ Star for Potter, Exit Expected This Summer
West Ham United are keeping an eye on the situation of Leicester City goalkeeper Mads Hermansen this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
The Hammers are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window as Graham Potter is looking to shape the squad in his own image following a disappointing campaign in 2024/25, which saw them finish 14th in the Premier League.
The shaping of the squad has already begun with a number of first-team players allowed to depart following the expiry of their contracts, and now the east London club are looking to bring in replacements.
West Ham Want to Sign Hermansen
Goalkeeper impressed despite relegation
Hermansen, who earned big praise for his performances for Leicester in 2024/25 despite being relegated, is expected to leave the Foxes this summer amid strong interest from across the Premier League and Europe.
One such club showing interest is West Ham, who are in the market for a new goalkeeper following Lukasz Fabianski’s departure at the end of his contract this week.
Hermansen, who has been described as ‘insane’, is considered to be one of the biggest assets that Leicester have in their squad. Journalist Tom Collomosse believes there is ‘every chance’ he will be playing in one of Europe’s top five leagues next season as a result.
Potter currently has Alphonse Areola as his number one, but the France international has struggled with his form over the last 12 months, and his current contract is due to expire in 2027, although West Ham have the option to extend that for a further year.
But Hermansen, who is just 24, could be seen to be a long-term number one at the club and if a cut-price deal can be agreed then the Irons may have a clear run at signing the Denmark star.
Chelsea are also said to be admirers of the goalkeeper, but they currently have a host of options in the position and are said to be eyeing a more experienced and proven option to come in this summer should they choose to strengthen.
