Nottingham Forest must improve bid by 60%+ – Player wants move, has agreement with Forest

At the weekend, El Chiringuito reported Nottingham Forest have made a €6m bid for RCD Mallorca’s Pablo Maffeo. They also stated the English club have reached an agreement with him and his entourage.

The right-back has a contract lasting until 2027 but wants to change clubs this summer and the report states he’s informed the La Liga club of his desire to move elsewhere.

Maffeo is attracting interest from Spain, Russia and England, where Nottingham Forest are keen.

Marca state Mallorca say they haven’t received a €6m bid from Nuno Espírito Santo’s side for the fullback. They point out the Spanish club rejected an €8m offer from Real Betis towards the end of the winter market.

According to the report, Mallorca want at least €10m to sanction the Spaniard’s sale in this window. If El Chiringuito’s report is to be believed, Nottingham Forest have to raise their offer by €4m. In other words, increase their initial proposal by 66.6%.

Maffeo is clear that he wants to leave this summer but Mallorca haven’t received an offer meeting their request so far.

Nottingham Forest will go in search of new players this summer, with the Reds keen to stock up ahead of a campaign playing in Europe.

Forest face a two-legged play-off in August, and if that proves successful, the team will enter a six-game group stage to try and reach the knockout stages of the UEFA Conference League

Igor Jesus looks set to join Forest imminently, and the Botafogo striker won’t be the only new addition to the ranks before the transfer window closes in September.

Nuno Espirito Santo does like a streamlined squad, however, and any new players who come in will likely see some of the current depth options moved on to pastures new.

Ramon Sosa looks set to sign for Palmeiras for around £10 million and now another player who struggled for game time last season could also be on his way.
