Former Wrexham star spotted training with League One club after being released by Phil Parkinson

Wrexham fans will be keeping a keen eye on the futures of their departing stars this summer.

Steven Fletcher and Mark Howard are yet to make any decisions on their next move after leaving the Racecourse Ground at the end of their contracts.

Wigan Athletic have signed Paul Mullin on a season-long loan deal and Wrexham fans will be sure to monitor his progress with the Latics.

Phil Parkinson released a number of other players ahead of the new Championship campaign and one has been spotted in training with a League One side.

Wrexham signed Brad Foster back in January on a short-term deal until the end of the season after injuries to Arthur Okonkwo and Callum Burton left the side short in the goalkeeper department.

Foster made one appearance for the Red Dragons during a 1-0 victory over Crewe Alexandra back in December 2024.

However, Foster was released by Parkinson at the end of the campaign and has now been spotted training with Port Vale following their promotion from League Two last season.

Wrexham fans spotted Foster posing in a picture on Port Vale’s Jesse Debrah’s Instagram story, wearing the Vale training kit.

No decision has been made on his future however, if he can impress during pre-season, a move to the League One outfit would be a good step for his career.

Goalkeeper is an area of real strength for Parkinson heading into the new season. Okonkwo is looking forward to the Championship and has been training hard in order to be ready for the step up in quality.

With 19 clean sheets last season, the former Arsenal youngster is determined to once again prove that he is one of the brightest prospects in the EFL between the sticks.

Burton impressed Rob McElhenney last season when he was given his chance following Okonkwo’s wrist injury and will be waiting patiently for his chance.

Wrexham are in talks with Danny Ward over a potential move but it is likely the veteran keeper would come in as third-choice.
