Exclusive: Ajax plot move for highly-rated Stoke City defender Jaden Dixon

Ajax are tracking highly-rated Stoke City defender Jaden Dixon, sources have told Football Insider.

Dutch giants Ajax have been scouting Dixon extensively and the England Under-18 international is one of a number of players on their wanted shortlist.

Dixon, who is equally adept at right-back and centre-back, broke into the Stoke first team last season and has made six appearances in all competitions for the Championship club.

In the league, the 18-year-old came on as a late substitute twice, and he started all four of the Potters’ Carabao Cup ties.

Ajax eyeing move for Dixon

Ajax finished second in the Eredivisie last season, as they were pipped to the title on the final day by PSV, but the Amsterdam outfit are now looking to strengthen their youth ranks.

Dixon began his football career in the Tottenham academy, before making the switch to the Bet365 in 2023.

The defender made his England Under-18 debut against Portugal back in October 2024 and has now racked up 11 appearances at that level for the Three Lions.

Football Insider exclusively revealed earlier this year (12 Feb) that Arsenal had enquired about Dixon, and were closely monitoring his progress.

Despite the interest, the former Spurs man remained at Stoke for the conclusion of the 2024/25 campaign.

Leicester face fight for Mavididi

Meanwhile, Football Insider exclusively revealed that Leicester face a fight to keep hold of winger Stephy Mavididi this summer.

Mavididi joined the Foxes in the summer of 2023 and helped them win promotion in his debut season at the club, scoring 13 goals and providing six assists.

A number of sides at home and abroad, including Atalanta, Bologna, and Villarreal are ready to move for the skilful attacker.

Mavididi was one of Leicester’s shining lights last season in a disappointing campaign which ended in relegation from the Premier League.

The talented wide man contributed six goals and one assist across 33 appearances in all competitions, but four of his goals in the Premier League came from only 16 starts.

The Foxes could be forced to listen to offers for some of their prized assets due to concerns over Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) after being charged for further breaches last month.

Chelsea take on Los Angeles FC in their opening game of the revamped Club World Cup on Monday (16 June) evening.

Enzo Maresca has a number of selection decisions to make ahead of the clash with the MLS side, and could hand out some club debuts.
