Joe Johnson selected for England Under-18s - Luton Town FC

Luton Town – Youngster Gets A Few Fleeting Minutes For England

Last night, I tried to find out if the European U19 Championship Finals were being televised, hoping that I’d catch a glimpse of our stars of the future, hoping that the football they’d serve up would be more entertaining than the full international side currently do.

Sadly,  I couldn’t trace sight or sound of it on the channels available to me, only to find out, this morning, that it was available for viewing on the BBC’s iPlayer, well at least i’ll know next time.

Instead, I had to sit and watch the text feed of the game, hoping that the Luton Town representative, in the squad, Joe Johnson, might get a look-in.

It proved to be a long wait with Joe finally being given the chance to showcase his talents in the 87th minute, coming on as a substitute.

Now it doesn’t appear to have been a case of Joe being a ‘supersub’, there was no devastating late rush forward for Joe to get the winner, instead Joe was brought on to shore up the defence as England held onto a 2-2 draw against their opponents, Norway.

But the experience, as his career moves forward, will stand him in good stead in what, I hope, will be Joe’s breakthrough season, at Kenilworth Road, where I hope he’ll be given the chance to be one of that rare breed, these days, a home-grown youngster becoming a first team regular.

Despite the disappointing end to a difficult campaign, all Luton Town supporters saw manager Matt Bloomfield and his staff lay the foundations for a bright future following his appointment in January, with an excellent run of form in the final quarter of the season.

We thank every Hatter for their support as we saw the famous Luton spirit and unity from the stands grow with each positive result, a togetherness which we will need once again from the first whistle in the new season.

With building work starting on our new stadium at Power Court this summer, we look forward to an anniversary campaign celebrating our rich history at Kenilworth Road while starting to make final memories at our much-loved old home over the next three years.

After consultation with Luton Town Supporters’ Trust on behalf of our fans, the pricing for all adult season cards (Under 19 and above) will see a £10 reduction, and a £5 reduction for junior season cards (Under 17 and below) from the 2024/25 prices in the Championship.

Our full pricing structure is detailed in the table below.
