Leeds United plotting £15M move for star striker – comes with Premier League experience
Leeds United scored 95 goals in the Championship this season, on their way to winning the league title. Daniel Farke has done an incredible job considering the quality in the squad.
The German coach stuck with a small core of players, and sometimes refused to use some options off the bench. This method paid off as the Whites won the Championship. But in the Premier League, Leeds will need some depth.
Especially in attack, where the club has been linked with multiple targets. The club are now looking to add some bodies in the attack considering the current options available. As it stands, Joel Piroe, Patrick Bamford, Mateo Joseph and Brenden Aaronson are the only senior team options up front.
Leeds are looking for potent attacking targets and have a shortlist early in the transfer window. Now, it looks like the Whites could re-ignite interest in a move for Cameron Archer. That is according to Ben Jacobs, speaking on Last Word On Spurs:
“We know that they tried for Cameron Archer in January, and now Southampton are Championship and Leeds are in the Premier League. So they might be back in for him,” Jacobs said.
“I heard they liked the idea of Callum Wilson, but Wilson’s got the chance to stay at Newcastle and have his contract extended as well.
“They’re looking at more versatile players, playmakers, 10s, advanced eights, like Emi Buendia, Gustavo Hamer. But Solomon is very high in the thinking of Leeds United.”
The Saints will reportedly be looking for a fee around £15million.
Cameron Archer is not good enough for Leeds
Heading into the Premier League next season, there is a serious need for firepower in the attack. Leeds can only afford to sign players with decent goalscoring records, who can fit in the Premier League.
It is part of the reason why the club have had their eye on Jamie Vardy and Callum Wilson this summer. Spending £15million on a forward with six Premier League goals since 2021 is not a good way to spend your money.
Ben Jacobs mentioned Emi Buendia, Gus Hamer and Manor Solomon – the Whites would be better off chasing these players.
