Exclusive: Don Goodman backs Norwich City to seal “win-win” Nottingham Forest transfer

Don Goodman believes Nottingham Forest defender Harry Toffolo would be a good signing for Norwich City this summer.

It has been exclusively revealed by Football League World that the Canaries are one of two clubs eyeing a move for the Nottingham Forest player.

The Norfolk outfit also face competition from Coventry City in the race to sign the 29-year-old, who has struggled for game time at the Premier League side this season.

The full-back has made just four appearances for the Reds as they fight for qualification for the Champions League under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Don Goodman welcomes Norwich City interest in Harry Toffolo

Goodman believes that left-back is an area that Norwich should be looking to strengthen this summer.

He believes Toffolo is a strong option for them that should be a good fit with how the team will likely want to play next season.

“I think Harry Toffolo would be a brilliant addition to Norwich City,” Goodman exclusively told Football League World.

“It’s an area of the pitch that they haven’t really been strong in, with respect, had depth in.

“They played Callum Doyle there mostly last season, who obviously, first and foremost is a central defender rather than a left-back.

“So, having more of an orthodox left-back, one that has pedigree of the level, one that is very good in terms of getting forward and assisting, the kind of football that I would expect Norwich City will want to play.

“I think it would be a win-win for both parties.”

Harry Toffolo’s Nottingham Forest game-time

Toffolo signed for Nottingham Forest from Huddersfield Town following the club’s promotion to the Premier League in 2022.

He featured 19 and 23 times in his first two seasons with the top flight club, helping them finish 16th and 17th, respectively.

However, his game-time has been reduced under Espirito Santo, which could open the door to an exit this summer.

It’s understood that Toffolo is likely to be available as a free agent as a result of his lack of minutes for the Reds, and given that he’s out of contract at the end of the current campaign.

Toffolo has something to offer in the Championship

Toffolo has gained a lot of Premier League experience at Forest, even if his game-time has been reduced in the last year or so.

He could be a valuable addition to a lot of Championship sides, and has proven himself at this level from his time with Huddersfield Town.

The full-back played a key part in the Terriers’ side when they reached the play-off final, which they lost to Forest, in 2022.

Given he could be a free agent this summer, this would be a smart move for a number of second tier sides, including Norwich.
