Jeremy Monga contract latest and what Leicester City have proven to 15-year-old talent
The teenage winger made his fifth senior appearance at Nottingham Forest and nearly scored his first goal, going close to an added-time winner, his shot kept out by Matz Sels
Leicester City have proven what they can offer Jeremy Monga and Ruud van Nistelrooy hopes he’ll respond by pledging his commitment to the club.
Monga made his fifth senior outing as a substitute in City’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest on Sunday and went close to a “fairytale” winner in added time, his shot saved by Matz Sels.
The 15-year-old winger’s obvious talent has attracted interest far and wide with Manchester City thought to be the frontrunners to sign him.

But hope remains that he will stay at City at least in the short term, the club having shown he will be involved in the first team going forward.
He can’t sign a professional contract until he turns 17, which is not until July 2026, and so if he was to leave before then, a compensation fee would be owed, potentially to be decided by a tribunal.
“If he can stay, this is his future,” van Nistelrooy said. “He can make minutes and we’ll build them into his pathway.
“I’ve had many conversations with him and his family. Hopefully he can sign soon. It’s up to him.
“It’s a joy to work with him, sometimes speaking about GCSEs and mathematics – I have to help him with that also – but then we speak about football again.
“If he could have scored a winner here, that would have been a fairytale.”
Monga has had a whirlwind 12 months to become a Premier League player. A year ago he was playing for City’s Under-16s as they won the cup against Man City, but having never started a match at Under-18 level, and never even played at Under-21 level.
But he fast outgrew the Under-18s and then became a star performer for the development squad, reaching a point where he has now played five of City’s last six matches.
He’s the second-youngest player to feature in the Premier League, behind only Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri, and came closest to becoming the youngest scorer.
If his last-minute shot had found the net, he’d have scored at 15 years and 305 days, which is 330 days younger than James Vaughan, the former City loanee who set the record for Everton as a 16-year-old in 2005.
Leicester Eyeing ‘Phenomenal’ Manager as Manning and Martin Alternative
Leicester City are reportedly interested in hiring former Everton boss Sean Dyche, as they look to win back promotion to the Premier League next season, according to Alan Nixon.
The Foxes were relegated to the EFL Championship after finishing in the relegation zone in the 2024/25 campaign. They managed to achieve just 22 points, despite switching head coaches midway through the season from Steve Cooper to Ruud van Nistelrooy.
The Leicester hierarchy have no interest in making their stay in the second-division any longer than a season, and Dyche could be the ideal hire to ensure that this is the case.
Leicester Eyeing Move for Dyche as New Manager
The Englishman has an outstanding record of winning promotion
As per Nixon, via his Patreon, some in the Leicester City top brass believe Dyche is the ideal man to help the side win promotion next term. The Midlands-based club considered a project-based approach with managers like Russell Martin or Bristol City’s Liam Manning, but it would be in the side’s best interests financially to head down the route with Dyche. Ultimately, Van Nistelrooy is likely to make way regardless, as revealed by GIVEMESPORT sources.
During his tenure at Burnley, Dyche won promotion to the top-flight twice in 2013/14 and 2015/16, the latter as Championship title winners. Moreover, during the 2017/18 season, he led the Clarets to a seventh-placed finish, bringing European football to Turf Moor for the first time in over 50 years.
He has previously been hailed as a “phenomenal” coach, navigating Everton away from relegation despite the Toffees incurring points deductions for breaching FFP guidelines.
Nixon notes that Dyche would have been prepared to take over from Van Nistelrooy during the season, though a move at this stage has not been ruled out either.
