Wolves facing conundrum as Vitor Pereira now left with decision bigger than Matheus Cunha
Wolves are set to be active in the summer transfer window, but the biggest decision Vitor Pereira could make involves two players already at the club.
As Wolves prepare to let go of Matheus Cunha, who is set to join Manchester United, Vitor Pereira will need to find a replacement or two for the Brazilian.
The club’s leading scorer with 17 goals, Cunha’s class and talent warrant a place on the biggest stage in European football.
Wolves have been linked with Harvey Elliott as a potential heir to the 25-year-old’s talent, while Chelsea’s Joao Felix is another option to replace Cunha this summer.
But while the former Atletico Madrid star’s transfer out of Molineux will continue to dominate the headlines, one returning loanee will give Pereira a big headache.

Vitor Pereira faces conundrum with Hugo Bueno and Rayan Ait-Nouri
This season, Rayan Ait-Nouri has been one of the Premier League’s best wing-backs, currently topping the charts for goal involvements from any defender.
Supporters are worried that the Algerian could leave, although Wolves plan on offering Ait-Nouri a new contract, something that would be welcomed among the fanbase.
However, the 23-year-old staying at Molineux only makes it more difficult for Hugo Bueno to break into the starting lineup once he returns.
Bueno has been starring for Feyenoord in the Champions League, seeing his talents flourish as a left wing-back.
Robin van Persie wants to extend Bueno’s stay at Feyenoord after impressing during his time with the Dutch giants and fitting in with the team’s culture.
That leaves Pereira and the Spaniard with a huge decision to make this summer if Ait-Nouri stays. He can either return to the Dutch giants on loan or battle his teammate for a spot at left wing-back.
It has been said that Bueno ‘loves’ Wolves and would like to stay but he also wants to play first-team football, and that isn’t always guaranteed.
How Pereira can fit Bueno and Ait-Nouri in the same team
Bueno is unfortunate that he has one of the division’s best wing-backs ahead of him at Wolves, as a man of his talent would normally get into the team at Molineux.
Should Wolves keep both players this summer, though, the 22-year-old would likely have to bide his time on the bench – something he’s keen to avoid – or Pereira can tweak Ait-Nouri’s position.
Ait-Nouri’s versatility is impressive, and during the period when Gary O’Neil was short on attackers last season, the Algerian international often played as a winger or a wide number 10.

Given how much he’s increased his output as a wing-back, maybe switching his position wouldn’t be the wisest idea, but it is an option to get Bueno in the starting lineup with him.
Alternatively, the Feyenoord loanee could slot in as a left centre-back, having done so in the past, though that would decrease his attacking output.
Either way, a telling few months await for Bueno, who will want to be a regular starter regardless of where he ends up.

What the Spanish media are saying Wolves will refuse to ‘let’ happen to Fabio Silva this summer
Vitor Pereira will have a decision to make with Fabio Silva in the summer transfer window.
The Wolves manager has yet to review the striker, having arrived at Molineux during Silva’s loan spell at UD Las Palmas.
As the 22-year-old continues to thrive in Spain, those back in the West Midlands have their hands full with building interest in the player.
Silva has generated transfer interest from several clubs eager to sign the forward on a permanent deal from Wolves in the summer.
It was assumed that Silva would leave Wolves in 2024, however, the Old Gold instead sanctioned a fourth loan spell, which is proving to be a stroke of genius.

Spanish media share Wolves stance on Fabio Silva transfer
Silva regrets joining Wolves for a record transfer fee back in 2020, as pressure was on the forward from day one due to his price tag.
Now, it’s expected that the Portuguese striker will be released from his shackles at Molineux, with plenty of interest surrounding the Wolves loanee.
While the Old Gold will be eager to move on from the transfer saga regarding Nuno Espirito Santo’s capture, it’s understood that there’s one thing Wolves won’t be doing this summer.
