Leeds United chief Paraag Marathe responds to leadership change and sporting director appointment

Paraag Marathe’s eight word Leeds United message will have everyone excited about what’s next

The Leeds United chairman has made a promise to supporters about this summer

Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe has promised supporters the club will spend every penny they are able to in the transfer window this summer to allow the Whites to re-establish themselves in the Premier League. The Whites will come up with a Championship squad full of quality and with a sprinkling of class needed to be a hit in the top flight, but reinforcements are needed.

In the world of Profit and Sustainability the ability to just spend whatever you like is a thing of the past, but Leeds are in a good financial position to attack the transfer market this summer. Speaking to the financial Times, Marathe has suggested a substantial amount of money will also be raised through Leeds shareholders, with the explanation “it’s what we need to go full tilt for the next three years.”

That statement alone will offer encouragement to supporters that extra money is being found to invest into the club, but it is Marathe’s insistence on just how much will be spent which will make Leeds fans happy most. “Whatever they will let us spend, we’ll spend,” said Marathe.

Just how much Leeds have in their war chest for the summer is not known at this stage and potential summer sales may add a small amount to that total, which could potentially approach £100m. Leeds are expected to be in the hunt for a new goalkeeper this summer, while a striker is also top of the wanted list.

Marathe is expected to speak to the media in the next 24 hours to set out Leeds’ hopes for the new season and to offer clarity over the future of Daniel Farke, who was reported elsewhere as being under threat of the sack despite guiding Leeds to 100 points.

Well, Leeds United never do it the easy way do they. Always exciting, never boring. Unapologetically raucous, emotional to the bone. These are the days that will go down in club folklore.

The feat of 100 points, promotion and the title – all done with the presence of fans, something the club were denied in 2020. Plymouth Argyle put up a noble fight and were almost the party-poopers.

But this Leeds team is different, they will not be denied. Manor Solomon told Leeds Live that the club will always stay in his heart and, if this is farewell, he has written his name into the history books. Amidst all the celebrations, here are a few things you may have missed.
