Forget Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer, forgotten Wrexham star deserves a proper farewell from Phil Parkinson

Wrexham head to Lincoln in their final game of a long but successful campaign.

Phil Parkinson’s side can enjoy their final day trip to Sincil Bank stadium knowing that League One promotion is secure.

Matty James has demanded a win in their final game of the season but Wrexham could rotate with Thomas O’Connor set for a rare start in Parkinson’s predicted XI v Lincoln.

Fans want Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer to feature in order to have the opportunity to have a final farewell should they depart the club as expected in the summer. However, another Red Dragons should also get that opportunity who has been forgotten about in recent months.

Jacob Mendy deserves Wrexham farewell v Lincoln

Jacob Mendy arrived at the Racecourse Ground from Boreham Wood in the summer of 2022 and has played an integral part in the club’s rise to the second tier.

A powerhouse at left wing-back, Mendy has provided Parkinson with consistent performances over his time in North Wales and has become a fan favourite for his heart and commitment.

Mendy’s Wrexham future was in doubt back in January but the 28-year-old stayed at the club despite only making nine appearances in all competitions this season.

He is now almost certain to depart in the summer but alongside Mullin and Palmer, he deserves one last opportunity to wear the Wrexham shirt with pride and get the adulation from the supporters.

Mendy will be an excellent addition to many clubs in Leagues One or Two should they want to acquire the Gambian in the summer.

He has contributed both in an attacking sense and defensively for the Red Dragons over the course of his 76 appearances for the club and provided some wonderful memories.

For Wrexham now, one last challenge at Lincoln awaits and despite wanting three points to take them over the 90 points barrier, there must be some sentiment involved on the occasion.

Mendy deserves, alongside a number of his team mates, to be rewarded for his patience this season and show fans what he is capable of for one last time.
