Wolverhampton Wanderers locked in Matheus Cunha on a long-term deal during the winter transfer window, fending off interest from several clubs at the time. Still, despite that show of commitment, speculation about his future hasn’t gone away—and now, Manchester United are being linked with a potential move following months of rumors.

Cunha has become a vital piece for Wolves, thriving in multiple attacking roles and consistently making an impact. According to Fichajes, the Brazilian has impressed whether he’s been used as an attacking midfielder, second striker, or center-forward. That kind of versatility has reportedly caught the attention of Arsenal, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain.

Wolves clearly rate him highly, but there’s talk they might consider offers north of €70 million. In January, Sky Sports News reported that Nottingham Forest made a club-record bid of around £60 million.

The Telegraph’s John Percy reports that Manchester United are hoping to sign Cunha through installment payments, and Wolves are reportedly open to a deal structured that way.

Ben Jacobs of GIVE ME SPORT reported Tuesday that Manchester United’s long-term sporting project convinces Cunha and would be open to a move—even without Champions League football next season.

So far, conversations have been positive, with the focus firmly on the club’s future vision. While personal terms haven’t been brought up yet, another important meeting is set to take place before the end of the month.

Surprise development in Matheus Cunha saga as Wolves talisman eyes Man United transfer

Matheus Cunha is fully expected to leave Wolves this summer and it is just a question of where he goes.

Cunha has a £62.5 million release clause in the new contract he signed at Molineux, and the Brazilian will more than likely leave for the value of that clause.

In recent days and weeks, Manchester United have march to the front of the queue for Cunha.

The Red Devils have admired him for a while, and are very keen to snap him up this summer as they feel he’s a perfect fit for their system.

Molineux News has been informed Wolves are open to negotiating with United over the payment structure of Cunha’s release clause.

He is the player’s ideal next destination, so there’s a chance Wolves will accept a lower first initial payment to make a deal easier for the Red Devils.

But now, a very interesting claim has been made regarding the competition for Cunha’s signature.

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol has provided an intriguing update on Cunha tonight on Sky Sports News.

And it relates to the interest from clubs in Cunha.

Since Cunha signed his new contract, we have only really heard of interest from Premier League clubs.

But now, it’s been suggested Saudi clubs are willing to trigger the player’s release clause.

Solhekol said earlier tonight on Sky: “Interestingly this evening, I’m just being told – surprise surprise – clubs in Saudi Arabia are now also prepared to trigger Cunha’s release clause.

“Saudi clubs are targeting the best players they can buy, and Cunha is certainly a player who’s on their radar.”

Whether Cunha would really entertain interest from Saudi though is perhaps unlikely.

Solhekol added: “I was told that the player sees United as one of the biggest club’s in the world. One source has even told us Cunha ‘loves’ Manchester United
