Coventry City will break a new record during West Brom fixture
It’s the game of the week on Friday as Coventry City face West Bromwich Albion in a game that could decide the fate of the top six.
Opta are predicting a tense end to the Championship play-off race, with a host of teams still in the mix.
Coventry’s 1-1 draw at Hull City earlier this week meant they missed an opportunity to create some breathing room between themselves and the chasing pack and they could be overtaken by West Brom if the visitors win at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
Position | Team | Played | Won | Drawn | Lost | For | Against | Diff | Points |
4 | 42 | 21 | 13 | 8 | 57 | 38 | 19 | 76 | |
5 | 42 | 16 | 16 | 10 | 54 | 45 | 9 | 64 | |
6 | 42 | 18 | 9 | 15 | 59 | 54 | 5 | 63 | |
7 | 42 | 14 | 18 | 10 | 51 | 39 | 12 | 60 |
Frank Lampard actually took inspiration from West Brom vs Coventry earlier this season – the game where he suffered his first defeat as manager of the Sky Blues.
Meanwhile, Tony Mowbray has challenged star man Tom Fellows to become more consistent ahead of the end-of-season run-in.
Fans of both sides are equally as excited and nervous for the Easter weekend showdown and will turn up in their thousands to show their support.

Coventry tipped to break attendance record against West Brom
Everybody wants a ticket to the game of the week and the Sky Blues look set to pack out their home ground.
According to the Coventry’s official website it will be a sell-out for the all-Midlands affair, therefore breaking a league attendance record for the club.
The Coventry Building Society Arena can hold a total of 32,609 and there won’t be an empty seat in the house, with over 31,000 expected.
On average, Coventry have had attendances of 27,479 – nearly 8,000 more than what they were getting since their return to the Championship.
Season | Coventry City average attendance in the Championship |
24/25 | 27,479 |
23/24 | 25,468 |
22/23 | 19,950 |
21/22 | 19,541 |
What is Coventry’s current record attendance?
Coventry are used to the big occasion nowadays and the milestone they are set to record against West Brom will break one they only set a year ago.
Their current record attendance was set against Leeds United in April 2024, when 30,232 fans were there to see them beat the Yorkshire giants 2-1.
This game will be just as important and the win could all-but-seal their place in the top six with three games left of the normal season to come after it.
Sky Sports pundit shares Derby County vs Luton Town score prediction amid ‘catalyst’ claim
Luton Town travel to Derby County knowing the damage of anything less than three points at Pride Park against a resurgent John Eustace side.
We recently had a stab at predicting the points total required for survival in the Championship, which the Rams are not far off after John Eustace’s arrival from Blackburn Rovers sparked a revival.
Opta are predicting Derby will survive ahead of Luton who will be relegated, but this game could be so decisive for both clubs, and it is absolutely essential that both teams pick up at least something from it.
The swing in terms of points could be massive, but especially for Derby’s survival hopes given how close their points total looks to being enough. Defeat is also not an option for the Rams, given the likely consequences of a loss at Pride Park.

Sam Parkin reveals prediction for Luton away to Derby County
Eustace has already made plenty of changes to boost their survival hopes, with Derby hovering just outside of relegation places ahead of the final four-game run-in.
Some have even described the Rams’ turnaround as a ‘miracle’, although Eustace has been quick to shut down the noise, with numerous vital games still left to play.
The stats suggest a huge improvement of late, which has been well-timed to say the least. Not long ago, Derby were joined by Luton in the bottom three. Since then, they have somewhat left Luton behind.
Luton’s defeat to Blackburn Rovers was ‘hugely damaging’ and they cannot afford to lose two six-pointers in a row now and must reel Derby back in. However, they have a difficult game ahead considering Derby’s record at home and their own away.

Bloom said: “What a start [to the Friday fixtures], Sam. Derby vs Luton; that needs no introduction.”
Parkin responded: “It almost feels like one of Luton’s last victories was that last ditch win over Derby.
“Completely unwarranted at Kenilworth and I thought it could have been the catalyst and clearly hasn’t been.
“Tight game, Luton still can’t score, Derby are pretty clinical with the few chances they get. I’m going to go 1-0 the home side.”
