Leicester should 'take their time' choosing next manager - BBC Sport

Leicester City owner must now ruthlessly sack one man, he’s cost the Foxes a place in the Premier League

Leicester City fans should be furious with their club after yet another complete disaster on the transfer front.

A lot of supporters from other Premier League clubs will have woken up on Tuesday morning pleased with the business they conducted over the winter.

Relegation rivals Ipswich Town and Wolverhampton Wanderers made multiple signings as they bid to avoid the drop.

Leicester City, on the other hand, wasted their one chance to strengthen a squad that is obviously too weak to compete in the top flight.

Woyo Coulibably was signed and his addition does mean the Foxes, on paper, now have two players to compete in every position.

It’s just not good enough, however, with a large portion of their squad simply not at the level required to play regularly in the Premier League.

Now the dust has settled on one of the most frustrating windows in recent memory, Leicester owner Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha has a big decision to make.

Leicester are on a run of just one win from eight in the Premier League and are most likely set to lose to Manchester United in the FA Cup later this week.

However, while it’s not great for Ruud van Nistelrooy, the Dutchman is not the main problem at the club.

Even if he’s sacked or walks, nothing is going to change at the King Power unless Jon Rudkin is relieved of his duties.

Leicester fans hit out at Rudkin against Everton last weekend and have done so on several more occasions already this term.

The 57-year-old has been the main driving force behind the club’s recruitment for a number of years now and is largely responsible for the mess they are in right now.

Poor signings, a lack of ambition, failure to get deals over the line, and bad decisions have littered his tenure at the King Power and if ‘Top’ wants to get his team back to their glory years, Rudkin has to go.

Leicester City must rebuild if Jon Rudkin is sacked

Even if Rudkin is sacked in the coming months, however, the damage has already been done.

It’s hard to see the Foxes avoiding relegation this term and no matter what league they are plying their trade in come 2025/26, a rebuild is required.

PSR remains a concern and top stars such as Mads Hermansen will likely have to be sold in order to free up funds for signings.

A replacement for 38-year-old Jamie Vardy is needed as well, while a complete overhaul of the club’s backline must happen.
