Chris Sutton says David Moyes has already made an Everton signing better than Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool
Everton are pushing it right to the limit if they are to bring in any new faces in the transfer window.
The Toffees now have a week break until their next game in the Premier League which comes in the form of the Merseyside Derby.
David Moyes will be pushing Everton to make some signings before then with just a matter of hours remaining in the window.
It has been a solid few weeks for Everton who have taken three wins from their last three league games.
But there is still room for improvement with their side having been decimated by some significant injuries.
Although there have been no signings officially made on Merseyside, Chris Sutton has hailed one of Moyes’ previous additions.
Chris Sutton hails Everton’s Seamus Coleman a better signing than Virgin van Dijk
Moyes is keen to sign a new full-back before the deadline on Monday, with a lot of long-term uncertainties in that department.
There is not much time left in the window for the Toffees to do so.
But Sutton has hailed the previous work done by Moyes in landing Seamus Coleman in what has proven a seriously shrewd piece of business.
Speaking to BBC 5 Live, Sutton waxed lyrical about the Ireland international as he hailed him a better buy than Virgil van Dijk, Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suarez.
And it is little surprise when Everton paid just £60k for the 36-year-old all the way back in Moyes’ first stint in 2009.
Van Dijk sent a message to Everton fans ahead of the postponed Merseyside Derby, but he has had to wait for his final Goodison Park appearance.
Perhaps after Sutton’s comments, the Dutchman may have even more of a point to prove.
Seamus Coleman could leave Everton for free this summer
Coleman has been an exceptional servant for the Toffees over the years and has proven one of the best signings in Premier League history.
Of course, better players have lit up the league, but having cost so little, Everton have had so much in return from the right-back.
But Coleman has admitted he could leave Everton in the summer for good.
The 36-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, but it remains to be seen what will happen next regarding his future.
Everton now have a matter of hours to get their transfer business over the line.
It has been an extremely frustrating month in the market for Everton fans who are still yet to see their first signing made.
