Door open for Sunderland to sign 18 G/A star as exit terms revealed, he’s available on the cheap

Sunderland could have a golden chance at signing one of their reported January transfer targets, who’s now set to be available for a ‘nominal fee’.

There’s some exciting transfer stories emerging at Sunderland as we move into the January transfer window.

The Black Cats look set to do their share of business, as they did in the previous January transfer window, with Regis Le Bris’ side looking to strengthen amid their promotion push.

Last time out, Sunderland lost 1-0 at Stoke City and now find themselves seven points behind leaders Leeds United in the Championship table.

Reinforcements seem necessary at the Stadium of Light. Sunderland fans want a new attacker to arrive and that may seem likely a solid bet, with the likes of Nazariy Rusyn tipped to leave the club.

And one such player has been linked in Chelsea’s Harvey Vale. It’s said that Sunderland are rivalling the likes of Anderlecht and Heerenveen for the attacking midfielder, who spent the last season on loan at Bristol Rovers.

Chelsea’s stance on Sunderland target Harvey Vale now revealed

An emerging report from BBC Sport has revealed that Chelsea are looking to clear the decks in January, with Vale among those that the club are ready to move on.

Their report writes that Vale is ‘set to leave the club on a permanent deal’ ahead of his current contract expiring in the summer of 2025.

The same report goes on to add that ‘any deal will only likely command a nominal fee, with a sell-on clause likely to be included to cash in at a later date’.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder, who can also play in a deeper role, has 18 goals and assists (nine goals and nine assists) in his last 15 appearances for Chelsea’s U21s.

Why Harvey Vale arrival could be perfect timing for Sunderland

Sunderland have some quality in the middle of the park in names like Chris Rigg, Jobe Bellingham, and Dan Neil.

Right now, Rigg is injured for Sunderland but the injury is not thought to be a serious one. Le Bris surely won’t rush him back though and so a quick signing of someone like Vale at the start of January could be ideal.
