West Ham United are keen on bolstering their attacking options ahead of next season, and have set their sights on Lille striker Jonathan David.Jonathan David, Graham Potter

Acquiring David’s services this summer is a priority for West Ham boss Graham Potter, who also brought Brighton striker Evan Ferguson to the club in a loan deal in the January transfer window.

The Hammers have scored just 33 goals in 29 Premier League games this season, while Niclas Fullkrug, who joined from Borussia Dortmund last summer proved to be a disappointment before suffering an injury.

Meanwhile, experienced Hammers striker Michail Antonio is still sidelined after enduring a car crash back in December.

West Ham fear they may miss out on David

The Hammers are not alone in their admiration of David, who has even attracted interest from La Liga giants Barcelona.

According to Give Me Sport, Potter’s men are fearful they may miss out on the Lille striker despite already handing him a pre-contract offer.

The Canada international has notched 14 goals and three assists in 24 Ligue 1 appearances this term, and is also being tracked by Newcastle and Chelsea as well as Barcelona.

West Ham may not be able to stave off such high-profile contenders in the race to snap up David’s signature.

West Ham could look to Abraham as a David alternative

While the Hammers could miss out on Canada international Jonathan David, they remain interested in signing former Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham.

The Roma striker is currently on loan with fellow Serie A giants AC Milan but has scored just two goals in 23 top-flight outings for the San Siro side.
