Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl has said they ‘don’t know’ how serious Max Lowe’s injury is at this stage.
Sheffield Wednesday substituted the defender during their clash against rivals Sheffield United on Sunday afternoon. SWFC were beaten 1-0 at Hillsborough after Rhian Brewster’s goal in the second-half.
Lowe, 27, has been a key player for the Owls this season following his move last summer. He has made 37 appearances in all competitions, 34 of which have come in the Championship.
In this latest update regarding his condition, Rohl has said, as per a report by The Star: “When a player goes out and says he has something on his knee. When we look back to the season it could be another again. I don’t know at the moment. It could be that we once again get one back and the other is out. It could be the story of our season.”
Sheffield Wednesday injury latest regarding Max Lowe
Sheffield Wednesday have had their injury issues over recent times, especially in defence.
They will be hoping that Lowe isn’t now set for a spell on the sidelines and that he can return to action as soon as possible.
The Owls snapped him up on a free transfer last year following the end of his deal at Sheffield United.
He was signed to boost their defensive options and he has played at both centre-back and left-back in this campaign.
Lowe started his career at Derby County and rose up through their academy ranks as a youngster.
The Birmingham-born man was a regular for the Rams at various different youth levels before going on to play 48 times for their first-team, as well as having loan spells away from Pride Park at Shrewsbury Town and Aberdeen to get some experience under his belt.
Sheffield United landed him in 2020 whilst they were in the Premier League and he played 53 matches for during his days at Bramall Lane, as well as being loaned out to Nottingham Forest.
Lowe then made the surprise switch to Sheffield Wednesday after his exit from the Blades and he has enjoyed plenty of game time.
What now for Sheffield Wednesday?
Rohl’s men are sat in 12th place in the table and are six points off the play-offs.
They will have to assess Lowe over the coming days as they prepare for their next fixture against Cardiff City away.
