Brentford have announced a change to the club’s ownership structure.Brentford Football News, Fixtures, Results, Table | Sky Sports

The change, which is subject to Premier League approval, will involve owner Matthew Benham transferring his shares to a new holding company.

Official supporters’ trust Bees United will have its existing special share in the club replaced by a legally binding deed. This will ensure its ability to veto any proposed sale of the stadium and appoint a fan to the club’s board.Brentford Football News, Fixtures, Results, Table | Sky Sports

Brentford say the purpose is to “modernise” the ownership model as it will “provide greater flexibility” and “better position the club for future growth” – and that Benham “remains fully committed to ensuring Brentford FC’s future”.

Chairman Cliff Crown described it as a change to a “more conventional ownership structure”.
