Colchester United head coach Simon King steps down

COLCHESTER United Women head coach Simon King has stepped down from his role due to personal reasons.

King, who led the U’s team to promotion and a League Cup victory in their first-ever season, has left the role after a year in charge.

In a statement, Colchester United said: ‘HC Simon King has made the difficult decision to step down from his role due to personal reasons.

‘We thank him for leading our team to promotion & a League Cup victory in our first season. We wish him all the best.’

King was appointed as Colchester United Women’s head coach in February, 2024.

The UEFA A Licence holder took over from Luke Worley, who left the position at the end of last year.

King has been an integral part of the Essex Regional Talent Centre programme for many years.

The FA tutor has worked with a variety of age groups and was the RTC Centre Director.

Colchester Women currently lie second in the Essex County Women’s Football League premier division, following a 2-0 win over She Can Play Panthers last weekend.

Starting in Hackney, east London, the business was set up almost 16 years ago by head baker Kiersten Geroge as a stall at the capital’s vibrant food markets.

Over the years, the business grew and supplied independent coffee shops across London, as well as having its products stocked at iconic locations like Harrods, Selfridges and Fortnum & Mason.

Now, the business has announced the start of a new chapter, only a few miles away from the city centre.

Victoria Yum will reopen at the Wivenhoe Business Centre, in Brook Street, the business has now confirmed.
