Paul Merson has noticed something ‘simply incredible’ at Everton, he’s been proven completely wrong

Everton manager David Moyes was left satisfied with their draw against Manchester United on Saturday afternoon.

There will have been some frustration among the Everton fans after they saw their 2-0 lead collapse in the second half.

VAR overturned a late Everton penalty which could have given the Toffees the chance to seal another late victory.

However, it was not to be and Moyes will have to settle for his unbeaten run in the Premier League to be extended to six games.

Everton’s draw has maintained a healthy cushion on the bottom three with the Blues now able to look upwards in the Premier League table.

And there has been something which has really surprised pundit Paul Merson of late at Goodison Park.

Paul Merson admits he was wrong about David Moyes’ Everton return

Merson predicted Everton to lose against Crystal Palace last weekend, so his record with the Toffees does not exactly leave much to be desired.

However, to his credit, he has now held his hands up and admitted he was wrong with his opinion on Moyes’ return to Goodison.

Speaking to Sportskeeda, the Sky Sports pundit has finally made a U-turn on his comments about Everton sidestepping in replacing Sean Dyche with Moyes.

“Also, since The Friedkin Group took over as owners. We’ve got to place some credit on the shoulders of Sean Dyche because he kept Everton in the Premier League, but Moyes has really jet-propelled it,” he said.

“He’s really lifted the fanbase and the players, the squad, the staff, from what I hear speaking to my contacts at Finch Farm and Goodison Park.”

It only took Moyes four games to equal Dyche’s record of Premier League wins for the season.

So, it is surprising it has taken Merson so long to admit he was actually completely wrong about Moyes who has gone on to silence many.

What Merson previously said about Moyes’ Everton appointment

Moyes has proven numerous pundits wrong with the start he has made to life back on Merseyside.

Merson was one of the pundits who got it completely wrong in providing his thoughts on the Friedkins’ decision to change managers.

“I like David Moyes, don’t get me wrong, but people have got to remember it was 11 years ago,” said Merson.

“I would have gone and got – looking at the all-round picture for the future – Lee Carsley. I would have went and seen if Lee Carsley was prepared to come and manage Everton.”

Although Everton fans will be delighted with the start Moyes has made on the pitch, there will be a number of smug Evertonians now Merson has admitted defeat.
