Wolves are preparing to announce the appointment of Vitor Pereira after sacking Gary O’Neil.
Change is happening at Molineux, with it announced on Sunday that Wolves had dismissed O’Neil after 16 months.
The Englishman leaves the squad down in 19th in the Premier League table, giving his successor an uphill battle to climb.
Pereira is in talks with Wolves over the job, with the club planning to have the coach at the helm before the Old Gold’s battle with Leicester City.
Vitor Pereira set to travel to England ahead of Wolves announcement
It’s all systems go for Pereira at Wolves, with the 56-year-old set to take on his first Premier League job.
While the Portuguese has never managed an English club, Pereira has faced Premier League managers before, including Nuno Espirito Santo and Pep Guardiola.
Ahead of what’s set to be a busy week at Compton, journalist Ben Jacobs shared the latest update on Wolves’ journey to completing the capture of their new manager.
“Vitor Pereira has today verbally agreed terms with Wolves,” Jacobs said on X [16/12/24].
What’s interesting is that the journalist then shared Pereira’s travel plans, explaining when the Al-Shabab coach will head to Molineux.
“Vitor Pereira is travelling to England tomorrow [17/12/24] ahead of taking over at Wolves. He will be in charge for Leicester on Sunday.”
Even before Pereira was sounded out, Wolves wanted to replace O’Neil before playing Leicester, with it clear that the plan is on track to be completed.
