Amid the current transfer portal window being open, and running through December 28, Syracuse football continues to welcome college players to the Hill on visits.

Visiting on Monday, per his Instagram story, has been Rutgers senior wide receiver Chris Long, who said via his X page on December 13 that he would enter the transfer portal, with one season of collegiate eligibility left.

In the 2024 campaign for the Scarlet Knights, the 6-foot, 177-pound Long caught 11 passes for 163 yards and one score through the air.

Rated a three-star transfer prospect by the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking, Long was a four-star player via 247Sports while a member of the 2020 recruiting cycle. He starred for Willingboro High School in Willingboro, N.J., and as we all know, Orange first-year head coach Fran Brown and several of his assistants hail from the Garden State.

A former Syracuse football recruiting target is also reportedly making a trip to Central New York.

Brian Dohn, a national analyst with 247Sports, noted in a post on X that three-star offensive lineman transfer Naquil Betrand is also visiting the ‘Cuse program. Betrand said via his X page on December 9 that he would enter the transfer portal with three years of college eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot-6, 328-pound Betrand, who says he plays both left tackle and right tackle, had most recently been suiting up for Southeastern Conference school Alabama, although media reports in mid-October indicated that he was no longer listed on the Crimson Tide’s roster.

As a three-star prospect in the 2023 class out of Northeast High School in Philadelphia, Betrand held a scholarship offer from the Orange, had visited the ‘Cuse at least twice, and put Syracuse football in his top six before verbally committing to Texas A&M in August of 2022.

Following his freshman season at Texas A&M, Betrand entered the transfer portal, and reports indicated that he would take official visits to the Orange and Alabama this past January. However, on December 30 of 2023, Betrand said he was committing to the Crimson Tide.

Syracuse football coaches have signed a large 2025 class at the high school level, so it remains to be seen how many college transfers the Orange staff is hoping to land.

That being said, college transfers who have already visited Syracuse football, or plan to soon, include Rhode Island junior linebacker A.J. Pena, Alabama redshirt freshman offensive tackle Miles McVay, Liberty redshirt junior quarterback Kaidon Salter, LSU redshirt freshman quarterback Rickie Collins, Virginia sophomore quarterback Anthony Colandrea, Penn sophomore running back Malachi Hosley, Central Connecticut junior offensive tackle Rahtrel Perry and Cal Poly redshirt freshman offensive tackle Brady Norton.
