DONE DEAL: Tottenham Hotspur reached a Verbal agreement to Sign ‘World-Class Superstar’ as Premier League club are now willing to let ‘fantastic” striker leave…
Tottenham handed transfer boost as Premier League club are now willing to let “fantastic” striker leave
One very common feature of the Premier League food chain is that the traditional big clubs often get their way when it comes to sign transfer targets from those not as big as them. This is a privilege available to very few clubs and Tottenham are one of them.
It doesn’t matter that Spurs finished 17th last season in the Premier League. It doesn’t matter that Brentford finished at a much higher spot than they did last season. All it matters if that the North London club are a traditional big-6.
The Bees have taken a massive beating in terms of squad depth this summer. Their talisman, Bryan Mbeumo, moved to Manchester United while their mastermind over the past few years, Thomas Frank, move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Brentford make the difficult decision to let Yoane Wissa leave
It only looks like a matter of time before Yoane Wissa, who pulled out of pre-season training, jumps ship to a bigger club with Spurs in the mix. Who would say no to a reunion with their former manager who had so much trust in him?
Now, as per journalist Ben Jacobs (h/t Caught Offside), Brentford have now made the decision to allow Wissa to leave the club this summer provided they are able to sort out a replacement for him. This comes as a boost for Spurs.
Thomas Frank’s side are not alone in their interest in the striker, with Newcastle United also wanting to sign the Congo international. The Magpies are in pole position to sign him, but the Thomas Frank factor could tip the scales in favour of the North London club.
The Danish tactician labelled Wissa as a “fantastic striker”, and the 28-year-old would help provide competition to Dominic Solanke at Spurs. The only concern would be that the club already have Mathys Tel.
One of the biggest advantages that Tottenham have this summer is that despite their extremely poor Premier League season is the fact that they lifted the Europa League trophy last year. This gives them Champions League football for the upcoming campaign.
It remains to be seen whether Spurs are keen on signing Wissa this summer. They will have to convince him to choose them ahead of the Tyneside-based club and let’s wait and see how things play out.
James Maddison’s Touching Son Heung-min Tribute is More Emotional After Injury
James Maddison’s touching Son Heung-min tribute now looks all the more emotional following the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder’s worrying injury.
The Englishman spoke fondly of his teammate after the South Korean announced that he would be leaving Spurs after a decade with the club, having joined from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015. However, in Son’s final game – a pre-season friendly vs Newcastle United – all the focus was unfortunately on Maddison, who picked up a concerning injury and had to be stretchered off.
It remains to be seen just how long the 28-year-old will be sidelined for, but the early fears are that he may have suffered an ACL injury.
Maddison Opened Up On Son’s Spurs Exit
‘He is my friend for life’
Speaking ahead of the Newcastle friendly, Maddison had nothing but kind words to say about Son as he made it clear just how much of a club legend the South Korean is. He told Coupang Play (via Reddit):
“He told me a couple of days ago that he would be leaving Tottenham this summer. It is weird for me. Since I joined the Premier League, even with Leicester City, Sonny is Tottenham, and Tottenham is Sonny.
“It is weird to think about Tottenham Hotspur without Heung-Min Son. It is a little bit emotional as he is a very close friend. I love him very dearly. He is an amazing human.
“I just don’t have enough time or words to tell you how I actually feel about him. I cannot say enough good words about him. I will miss him very dearly, but he is my friend for life.”
Opening up on his decision to leave Spurs, Son explained: “I need a new environment to push myself. I need a little bit of change – 10 years is a long time. I came to north London as a kid, 23 years old, such a young age. I leave this club as a grown man, a very proud man.
“I want to say thank you to all the Spurs fans for giving me so much love. I hope the goodbye is also good timing and this is the right time to make that decision. I hope everyone can accept that and respect that.”
As things stand, Son looks set to head to MLS, with LAFC the current favourites to land his signature and Tottenham happy to let him go after giving so many good years to them.
