Nottingham Forest’s stance on Douglas Luiz transfer made clear after Juventus training drama
Douglas Luiz remains a name closely linked to Nottingham Forest, after the Brazilian made it clear that he wouldn’t be remaining at Juventus this season.
The midfielder’s time in Italy is surely over after Luiz didn’t show up for Juventus training, a decision that could see him face disciplinary action from the Turin club.
However, it’s been clear for a long time now that Juventus want to move Luiz on so it shouldn’t have come as a surprise to see him prioritise his return to the Premier League over training.
With reports suggesting that Luiz’s agent has been in the UK to discuss his client’s future, Reds fans were understandably excited about the prospect of signing the Brazilian, but with other English clubs interested, Nottingham Forest News has learned where Forest stand on a deal for Luiz.
Nottingham Forest’s stance on signing Douglas Luiz
After Luiz rejected Leeds United, it looked as if Forest and Everton were best-placed to sign the former Aston Villa man who would be a seriously impressive addition for either side.
However, through information from transfer expert Graeme Bailey, Nottingham Forest News understands that the Reds aren’t actively pushing to sign Luiz at this stage.
Luiz is said to be uninspired by the approaches of the likes of Everton and West Ham as he waits for a bigger club to make an approach, but as it stands, Forest have not put themselves in the mix.
Edu tried to sign Luiz for Arsenal so there was an assumption that Forest would make a move to sign the Brazilian who had been linked with the club in January, but his disinterest in the Premier League moves presented thus far perhaps makes one club in particular the favourites for his signature.
Manchester United could be favourites to sign Douglas Luiz
Back when Forest were first showing interest in Luiz in January last season, it was reported that Manchester United had been offered Luiz as well, with Juventus clearly knowing that their midfielder’s preference was to return to the Premier League.
Fast-forward to today, Football Italia are reporting that United remain one of the clubs in the mix for Luiz’s signature, with their historical pedigree arguably more appealing to the Brazilian.
