Schar Out, Kelly In – Predicted 4-3-3 Newcastle United Lineup vs Tottenham Hotspur
Newcastle United will look to start the New Year with a bang on Saturday when they travel to north London to take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
The Magpies were excellent in the 2-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford, continuing their rollicking form of late. They are on a five-game winning run across all competitions, having beaten the likes of Aston Villa, Ipswich Town, Brentford, and Leicester City before the Manchester United game.
So, Eddie Howe’s team will be confident of getting a result at Tottenham, who are struggling with both form and injuries.
Newcastle United Team News
Fabian Schar is suspended for the visit to Tottenham after receiving a fifth yellow card of the season in the win at Manchester United. Kieran Trippier is also a doubt after suffering some discomfort during the match, but otherwise, Eddie Howe does not have any further concerns heading into the contest.
Predicted Newcastle United lineup vs Tottenham (4-3-3)
Goalkeeper
Martin Dubravka kept his fourth clean sheet in a row in the Premier League when Newcastle beat Manchester United on Monday. The Slovakian will be eyeing a fifth consecutive clean sheet when Eddie Howe’s side travel to Spurs.
Defence
Schar’s suspension will force Howe into making a change in defence. Lloyd Kelly is likely to slot in alongside Dan Burn in central defence, and the duo will face the tough the task of stopping Dominic Solanke.
Tino Livramento came off the bench to replace the injured Kieran Trippier and he is likely to slot in at right-back in the Newcastle United lineup. Lewis Hall should retain his left-back spot, as the Magpies look to keep another clean sheet on the road.
Midfield
There is no looking past the midfield three of Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes, and Joelinton. Given how they dominated Manchester United and controlled large parts of the game at Old Trafford, the trio will try to emulate something similar against Spurs.
Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock must settle for spots on the bench once again.
Attack
Alexander Isak continued his rollicking form on Monday by netting his 13th goal of the season. The Swede, scoring goals of all kinds, will be licking his lips at the prospect of facing a makeshift Spurs defence.
Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon will feature on either side of Isak in the Newcastle United lineup, providing creativity, width, and flair to the attack. With their pace and directness, they can cause all kinds of problems for the home side.
