The Texas Tech Red Raiders will be Terrance Carter’s team in 2025, as confirmed by Hayes Fawcett of On3.

That was true on Tuesday, as former Louisiana tight end Terrance Carter announced via On3’s Hayes Fawcett that he would play for the Texas Tech Red Raiders in 2025. Carter was the No. 4 player in the portal at his position, per the On3 Transfer Portal Industry Rankings, and has two years of eligibility left. Texas Tech has also recently added players like former Wake Forest quarterback Mitch Griffis, former Miami (Ohio) receiver Reginald Virgil, and former UTEP corner Amier Boyd-Matthews from the portal.

Carter was a three-star prospect in the 2022 class out of Harker Heights, Texas. Louisiana and Arkansas State were the only schools interested in him as a recruit.Terrance Carter, Louisiana, Tight End

Carter had little playing time as a freshman at Louisiana, seeing the field in one game. His playing time increased as a sophomore, as he played in 12 games and had 255 yards receiving with one touchdown.

In total, he had 944 receiving yards and seven touchdowns during his time with the Ragin’ Cajuns. Louisiana finished the regular season at 10-3 and will play TCU in the New Mexico Bowl. Texas Tech reached their third consecutive bowl game under head coach Joey McGuire this season. McGuire’s is 23-15 since joining the program in 2022 and has a 2-0 record in bowl games.Terrance Carter, Louisiana, Tight End After losing four wideouts to the portal, the Red Raiders added a receiving option for their passing game with the addition of Carter. Former five-star prospect Micah Hudson, Demarion Crest-Daniels, Jordan Brown, and Brady Boyd left Lubbock via the portal. Texas Tech shuts the door on the 2024 season against Arkansas in the Liberty Bowl on Dec. 27. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
