Exeter City will continue their run of tough fixtures when they take on table-topping Wycombe Wanderers at St James Park on Tuesday night.
Wycombe are flying in first place having won 11 matches in a row in all competitions, and it will be another test for Gary Caldwell’s men who have already faced second placed Birmingham and third placed Wrexham in the last two matches.
The Grecians will come into the clash off the back a 2-0 win over Chesterfield in the FA Cup. But they have won just one of the last six in League One as they have slipped down to 11th.
“From their form they are obviously confident, and they have a clear identity. They are getting the breaks at the moment which go got you when you are doing well,” Caldwell said.
“I saw them live at Stockport recently when they won 5-0 so I saw them at their very best and we know what their threats are.
“We have to be at our very best and as always focus on us, it’s not about what they do but what we do. If we are at our very best we know we can cause them a lot of problems.”
“The cup game came at a good time for us as it gave us a reset after the last couple of league games – so it’s been really good for us,” Jack Aitchison added.
“When you think of Wycombe you know it’s going to be a physical game – it’s the Wycombe way. We know it’s going to be a tough game, but we’re at home so we put pressure on ourselves to win.
“It’s been a really big boost for us to have been at home in the last couple of matches, and great to have the fans behind us – Tuesday night games are always good.”
